What can I say! We have just returned from Charlotte's apartment in Val d'Isere. We had such an amazing week. The apartment has absolutely everything you need. It really felt like home from home. It was warm and cosy and there was plenty of space for myself, my husband and my little boy. The sofa bed was extremely comfortable to sleep on and the way the bunks fold away is brilliant! There was plenty of storage for our clothes, ski kit, etc and lots of books for drying clothes in the bathroom and entrance hallway.

The apartment is ideally located within Val d'Isere village. It's about a 10 minute stroll to the main square, where ski school meets, where the main lifts are and where there are numerous bars and restaurants. (It might be a 15 minutes stroll maybe if you are wearing ski boots, carrying skis and have a 6 yr old tagging along). To be honest though, we didn't find the walk a problem at all! In fact, it was quite refreshing in the mornings. The apartment has a great balcony with a spectacular view. It has the sun pretty much all day. We were very lucky to have beautiful blue skies every day and we enjoyed chilling on the balcony with a cold beer.

The Les Verdets apartment building is immaculately kept by concierge. No ski boots are allowed past the second set of entrance doors. You have to change out of your ski boots in the boot room where the ski lockers are. Excessive noise is also frowned upon after 10pm which was great as we have a young child.

All that's left to say is if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Val d'Isere, Charlotte's apartment is perfect. She was so helpful when we were booking and she was at the end of the phone when we needed her. Thanks so much for letting us use your apartment. We will definitely be back!!!!!!

We come back year after year....

  • 5 of 5

This is our fourth time to this apartment. Owners are great, really easy to book with and Charlotte is really helpful. I know it seems boring going back to the same place, but no holiday is ever the same.

Now on to the flat. It is small, perfect for a couple or 3 friends or a couple with a young family. Although, the top bunk is quite high for a small child, but fine for a tween and upwards.

The flat has everything you could wish for including a very useful slow cooker, TV/DVD/CD etc. There is also a small library of books and dvd's so don't worry if you forget to pack any. I should mention there are two brilliant supermarkets 5 mins walk away (Spar has a great butcher). The sofa bed is really comfortable with memory foam mattress and the bunks which fold back in to the wall through the day are full sized and very comfortable. Nice bath and shower depending on your preference. There is plenty of storage space, although I would recommend not taking lots of hard suitcases as space is limited, soft bags pack away easier.

Fantastic view from the balcony with a really useful bench (lid lifts up for storage) which you can sit and watch the world go back and admire the beautiful view. La Balme and Les Verdets is a very quiet part of Val, yet within 5 minutes of the main lift area, shops, restaurants and the swimming pool and sports complex which is at the top of the road. We particularly enjoy the climbing wall and Hamman. The concierge, Akim, is also a godsend should you need anything like snow chains!!! Anyway, love it, love it, love it and roll on January for our next trip.

Owner's Response: Thanks Emma, you are always a welcome guest. I am sure Emma won't mind me mentioning that we do always offer repeat guests, who have looked after our little flat nicely and guests seeking multiple weeks, a discount. Have a good week in January 2015. Thanks very much Charlotte.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

A perfect holiday with my other half, was only made better by this cosy, homely, well maintained apartment. We were very close to the slopes and could see (as it was quite snowy) when the Olympique Bubble and Solaise chair started running, but also near to all the great bars and restaurants - loved Pedrix Blanc. The state of the art leisure centre is literally at the top of the road. We went for a Hamman as a treat or just enjoyed the swimming pool, jacuzzi and views. Fabulous. The apartment was always warm and welcoming when we returned from a day on the slopes, it was like our little sanctuary and the sofa bed was so comfy. It is the thoughtful, little touches which make this place like a home from home and we will definitely be returning.

Perfect Apartment in a Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the apartment last half term and it is small but perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly want and immaculately maintained. The location is great, just a 5 min walk to slopes or centre of Val and the view is to die for. Had a really fantastic holiday and was really easy booking through owners direct. The owner Charlotte, made it all very easy and it really did feel like home from home. Val D'Isere is great for kids and adults, there is just so much to do. Very satisfied client and looking forward to returning this season to what feels like our second home!!!!

From the Owner

We fell in love with Val d'Isere after many years skiing. In our view it simply cannot be beaten. The village is fantastic and we love it in the summer as well. There is so much to do in this prestige resort. The kids love it - a real family holiday.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Winter time - Val D'Isere is one of the top locations in the world to ski, it basically has everything and most importantly it is snow sure. Not as close to airports as some resorts (2-3.5 hour transfer dependent on airport), but who wants to get to their resort quicker and then not be able to ski. Top restaurants both on and off the mountain, bars, nightlife, leisure facilities etc. Plus, if you have children, you cannot get better facilities to ensure they are happy therefore, you are happy. Trust me we bought the flat when our children were 2 years old, so we have experience and year on years, children's facilities just get better.

If you do not wish to ski, again, Val D'Isere is still perfect for a relaxing holiday. The Leisure centre offers everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break, Hamman, Spa's, lots of shops, village Market on a Thursday, cafe's. Plus you can always get the bubble or cable car up to the top as a foot passenger and meet friends for lunch or just take in the views, its a whole different world up there!!

Summer time - unveils all the mysteries of Val d’Isere to those who take the alpine footpaths through towering summits that boarder alpine pastures and majestic lakes. Sport and leisure activities bloom in abundance and here in Val d’Isere children are given the priority; everything is structured to entertain them and heighten their awareness of the mountains. A nature lover’s paradise, Val d’Isere is a perpetual source of enchantment.

A village atmosphere has been carefully preserved from Val d’Isere’s earliest days in 1934. You can sense it in the intimate atmosphere of the tea rooms, wine bars and the refined elegance of the hotels, boutiques and restaurants. There is no shortage of entertainment filling the streets of Val d’Isere; themed evenings, ski shows, firework displays, music concerts and other prestigious event.

Traveling to Val d'Isere is simple. Fly to Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble or Chambery. From the airports you can take a bus to Val d'Isere which arrive in the centre of Val d'Isere no more than 400m from your apartment at Les Verdets.

Eurostar run a weekly service from London/Ashford direct to Bourg St Maurice, this service is ideal if you are based in London. Once you arrive in Bourg simply take a bus or taxi up the mountain to the resort.

It takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Val d'Isere from Bourg St Maurice, an hour and a half from Chambery and 3 hours from Geneva.

Further Details:

When to go. Before Christmas, the slopes are empty and our price is low. The resort opens around 3 December and the sooner you book the less your flights cost. Val d’Isere is more likely to have good snow than most which is why it hosts early World Cup downhills. Christmas is great. It is a proper white Christmas. You bring the presents and Val d’Isere does the rest! New Year is a wonderful time to ski. Val d’Isere has a vast ski area and 16 lifts from the valley floor alone so there are no problems with queues. January is our favourite month. It can be colder than other months but it tends to be sunny and is often the sunniest month. What is certain is that the slopes are empty, the snow is the squeaky perfect stuff and the holiday tends to be much cheaper as the French class this as low season. February is the classic month to go skiing. It’s logical; there will almost certainly be more snow than in January, the temperatures will be similar, but the days longer and the sun stronger. March is wonderful. The sun is stronger than in the Med in mid-summer, so Factor 50 is a must! The snow is at its deepest and on average a good metre more falls during the month. April is when Val d’Isere stands out from most other ski resorts. The sun is incredibly warm, but in the high, narrow, north facing valley the snow lasts exceptionally well. April showers fall as powder here and the last Funival of the winter on 8 May will be full of revellers mourning the end of another fantastic season and longing for the start of the next!

From the Owner

The property is located in a quiet area 4 minutes walk from the centre of the village. Most of all we love the balcony; the views are simply stunning both down to La Daille, looking up at Solaise and straight in front of you Bellvarde which is of course the location of the famous Olympic downhill 'Le Face'.
