About Mike Hare

Ola..and Welcome to our Little Oasis on the Costa Calida coastline overlooking the Mar Menor.

My wife Jean, and I had always wanted a "Place in the Sun" and 10 years ago an opportunity arose for us to see that wish through.

We immediately were attracted to the area by the convenience of a 2.5 hour flight, the cosiness of landing at a small but very efficient airport at San Javier - and more importantly the apartment, its positioning and the surroundings, it just felt right.

We have tried to make each of our place's a "home from home" thinking about what would be the perfect place to stay in if we were having a break abroad - and hopefully over the years of us owning them, we would like to think we have done so.

Notes on accommodation: Air-conditioning in each of the bedrooms, and a full wind down/wind up blind is positioned above the sun terrace opposite the lounge which will shade this area from the strong sun during the day. Outside: A large south east facing terrace/balcony is a great feature of the apartment, which overlooks private landscaped gardens and the best shared pool facilities on the "La Manga Strip". There are also two tennis courts available for the more energetic. On the large sun terrace of the apartment featured are chair, tables plus a storage area in which is kept sand chairs for beach including beach umbrella. Also available to take to the beach - is a solid "cool box" great for storing drinks and food when going out for the day. Utility Room: An added bonus having a utility room featuring a modern washer, also the hot water boiler is featured in this area. Also stored here is Ironing Board and Iron, full cleaning facilities, utility sink and vacuum. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels & Linen up to 4 persons included in rental of the apartment, plus full clean and inspection before each new let. The pre-clean is included in the rental cost featured. not extra, plus a complimentary welcome pack given to all incoming guests.

Everything you want from a Chilled, Relaxed Break & More...

Great Apartment - Perfect Position for Restaurants, Bars, and Beaches. The apartment has everything you want for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. This includes a wonderful Satellite system with all popular UK Channels, including Film, Sport Sky & BT, and not just British Channels world wide channels are also available. A Film Club with the latest and all style of Films if board with the TV and a Great Music Channel catering for all genre of tastes.

2 Full Size Bathrooms, not the usual Shower only as in many rental apartments, nice up to date modern furniture with a couple of very comfortable leather settees and separate dining area. Great to have a separate kitchen with everything you need at hand - plus very little "dirty" washing to take back home did it all "in house" in the large washer in the utility room.

Beach Furniture in abundance - small beach chairs, easy to carry relaxer (modern deck chairs) beach umbrella and a cool box also for the packed lunch and keeping the drinks cool - a god send.

Bars an Restaurants within 2 minutes of the apartment and again spoilt for choice either side of the marina. Can recommend a lovely friendly bar/home made food British operation called Le Club run by the ever smiling Lynne & John. New Italian/Pizza restaurant just round the corner - superb, called The Imperial - also round of applause for La Brasiere next to it and on the marina, Casablanca, Sugar & Spice, De Mares, and a great Elvis Impersonation from the owner of The Welcome.

Busses on a regular basis, up and down the La Manga Strip at only 1 euro 15 cents per journey.

A great experience with great owners a definite repeat visit is a must.

Winter Sun

The weather over the last two months has been extremely good making it a great holiday. The apartment is very comfortable and every need catered for. Bars, supermarket and fresh market on a Saturday on the doorstep and lots of places to walk and sit with lovely views of the Med and Mar Menor. A regular bus service operates from the main road to go to Cabo de Palas or Cartegena.

Home from home

Stayed in this apartment for 2 weeks in November. The communication prior to arrival was great. The apartment was exactly as described, and the apartment is probably better than the photos show. What sets it apart from other places I have previously stayed was all the extra little touches....books, DVD player, good range of English channels, a well equipped kitchen and a couple of really comfy chairs you can take to the beach. I didn't want to come home! If you are staying in la manga, this apartment is a must.

Excellent apartment

The owner of the apartment provided an excellent service to make our stay welcoming and enjoyable. The property was clean and comfortable with all equipment needed for a two week stay.

The area was lovely, quiet in May but livening up toward the end of June and is said to be very busy in July and August. We hired a car so that we could see more of the beautiful La Manga del Mar Menor and found many delightful areas to dine or sunbathe on many of the beaches.

We are hoping to return again to the same apartment as we loved the peace and tranquility, a very different holiday for us but definitely one to remember.

Excellent apartment & location

Arrived at Murcia to be greeted by John from the management company, very friendly chap, easy to talk to and explained where places were as we drove down the strip.

Apartment spacious and clean, cooker / fridge spotless, large balcony, well equipped kitchen, everything you need. Comfortable beds. Great air conditioning, cools apartment down quickly. Lots of wardrobe space in both bedrooms and ample coat hangers provided.

Good welcome pack so you can make a sandwich and cup of tea as soon as you arrive.

Large swimming pool, which is one of the warmest I have been in, I normally shy away from the pool as I don't like the cold water, but this on this holiday I had no problem with taking a much needed swim. Swimming pool area extremely clean.

Beach is about 5min walk to mar menor, fabulous beach, you can wade out far and only be up to your thighs, warm sea!!

Just over 5 Minutes stroll to harbour, lots of nice restaurants to eat at.

Lots of different bars/restaurants on the strip set apart in clusters, good gift shops in zoco. All are easily accessible by fabulous bus service, number 15, up and down the strip 1 euro 15cents each, bus regular every half hour. Tourist train also runs further up the strip, nearest point is magdelena hotel.

Bus into Cartagena starts from Area Sunset restaurant, number 20, catch the one on the hour that says directo, cost 3 Euros 30 cents each. The one on the half hour goes through the villages so takes longer.

Excellent supercor supermarket 2 mins walk from apartment, everything you want in there.

Would definitely recommend this apartment and area for those wanting a relaxing break and eating in at the apartment but also have the choice of going out for drinks / food.

Owner Mike always answered any queries / questions I had prior to departure within a very quick timescale.

Very relaxing, two weeks flew by. Would definitely go again x

This really is a hidden gem in South East Spain, wonderful weather 320 days out of 365, lovely beaches, safe bathing, historical stunning towns and cities such as Cartagena, great markets 7 days a week throughout the region, which can be visited by foot (local on a Saturday), by ferry, 20 minutes across the Mar Menor for 4 euro on a Wednesday or by bus or car in other local towns including the famous Sunday market of Cabo de Palo. A relaxing, chilled out holiday is top of the agenda in this apartment and the area, throughout the whole year. The La Manga Strip is 22Km of land which juts out from the Costa Calida coast and creates the South west surround of the Mar Menor (Little Sea). With in the province of Murcia, it boasts 322 days of sunshine a year, and therefore one of the mildest climates of Spain. This has resulted in the name Coast Calida - 'The Warm Coast'.

The strip at its narrowest point is 100 metres wide and at its widest is 1.5km, with 44km of beaches, the protected bays and coves are on he Mar Menor side with the water boasting temperatures of approximately +4 degrees higher than its counter part, The Mediterranean - with the marina being some 18km along the strip.

Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca and Caravaca dela Cruz present most of the history in the region, with Murcia being the home to the 600 year old Santa Maria Cathedral - the highest in Spain. Cartagena is an exceptionally beautiful city with Roman and Byzantine battlements visible to the public and walking tours can be arranged if requested.

Other Activities: Go Karting - Bird Sanctury - Great Markets Daily. Ferry across Mar Menor

Golf: With in 30 minutes you can be playing one of the 3 famous courses at The exclusive La Manga Club with an array of famous Who's Who of the sporting world, and the first choice of many continental football teams Winter training and pre-season training camps.

Further a field there are some great Polaris World/Jack Nicolas Golf courses at Mar Menor, Hacienda Requelmie and La Torre - all with very reasonably priced Green fees.
