About the property

A get away from it all cottage in the hidden gem of Moidart, by Ardnamurchan. Perfectly situated for trips to Skye, Mull, the beautiful west coast beaches and hills.

Dalilea Croft is situated on the north west side of Loch Shiel, in an area known as Moidart in the Western Highlands of Scotland. Fort William is 30 miles to the east and the cottage is approximately seven miles from Acharacle, which has a good general store, post office, tea room, bakery and pub. There are several good restaurants in the area. Boat hire on Loch Shiel is available and fishing can generally be arranged. The traditional single storey cottage is integrated with an architect designed extension with glass end-elevation, providing spectacular loch views and surrounded by its own established garden which is well fenced and bounded to the south by a small burn. The garden is completely secluded, no other house is visible, with Ben Resipol to the south and Loch Shiel, a short walk across a field, to the west. When the water in the fresh water loch is low, a sandy beach makes an ideal picnic spot.

Why Steven Mitchell chose Scottish Highlands & Islands

It is located in an amazing part of Scotland - very rural, stuffed with wildlife and scenery - if you want to get away from it all, this is the place for you!

Stunning location, stunning cottage, very well equipped and comfortable.

This is an exceptional cottage, it has everything one needs and feels like a home. It was very clean, the garden is a delight, and the Loch within 2 minutes walk. Floating on my back in Loch Shiel with a Sea Eagle soaring 50 feet above me is something I will remember till I'm 100. There is so much to do and explore in the area, and games, books DVDs for wet days. I really cannot recommend it highly enough.

5 star cottage in perfect location

Amazing cottage and location, could not fault it. Second time that we have stayed at the cottage, will be back again. The cottage and garden and the scenery around is perfect for a relaxing break.

Another great stay

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here many times now and we are never disappointed. The cottage is clean,

warm and well equipped and has a beautiful garden complete with stream. We saw eagles, deer and bats from the doorstep (the eagles are nesting nearby) and enjoyed the farm animals too. This visit we had the most glorious weather so mainly sat in the garden and didn't venture far, but there is plenty to do and see in the area. We have always had a dog or two with us-the garden is secure and there are walks nearby if the fields have livestock in them

just amazing! Easy to find but off the beaten track. Well furnished with cosy log fire and garden room with stunning views. We are a family with 10 year old twin boys and they could just roam freely down to the lochside. Our boys also loved their own space in the mezzanine bedroom. No mobile, no Wi-Fi and virtually no radio signal only enhances the slowing down of the pace of life here. Every day was an adventure with walks at Castle Tioram, watching the Hogwarts Express arrive at Mallaig, Glenborrodale Nature Centre, Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, Kilmory Bay and the beautiful walk to the Singing Sands all within easy driving distance.Local shops provide all you will ever need, and the nearby Mingarry Restaurant is top notch too along with the Glenuig Inn too. Just sitting watching the weather change over Ben Resipole and the loch was very cosy. During our week here we saw eagles, red deer, buzzards, seals and a plethora of other birds. We would recommend this holiday to anyone, thanks for a lovely week.

autumn at dalilea croft

  • 5 of 5

As a family of four with teenagers, we have just spent a wonderful autumnal week at Dalilea. The cottage was homely, warm and comfortable with the added advantage of no TV reception or wifi....life slowed down. We walked everyday...over the hills behind the cottage and along the shores of the loch, took our canoes out to the Green Isle, read books, played board games and the piano and watched a couple of DVD s. Saw a golden eagle and red squirrel. Had a total break. Thank you.
