Probably the best Gite we have stayed in.....

  • 5 of 5

We can only reiterate the comments made in the earlier reviews. Firstly our hosts, Andrew and Mary were so friendly and helpfull. The gite is charming with everything you need for a most enjoyable stay - even down to folding chairs we were able to use along a fabulous swimming spot Andrew told us about on the Dordogne river! This was a walking holiday for us and our Jack Russell, Bill and the circular walks all around St Avit Senieur and nearby Beaumont were excellent. Anybody with an interest in walking would certainly not be disappointed with this Gite's location.

Lovely house in the centre of village life

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in St Avit Senieur with two young children couldn't have been better- Andrew and Mary were superb hosts, the well-equipped house was perfect for our needs, and the location is an excellent point from which one can explore the Dordogne. We didn't want to leave...

St Avit Senieur Little Gem

  • 5 of 5

This gorgeous little property has everything you need for a fabulous holiday. Plenty of good quality bed linen and towels. A good rain shower, dishwasher and washing machine. Tons of crockery and cutlery. Beautiful private garden with barbecue. Sky TV if you want. Free wifi. A fabulous restaurant just across the road as well as a little shop selling everyday basics with a nice little bar and great owners.

It's a real home from home with the best hosts ever, Andrew and Mary, just next door should you need anything.

Séjour enchanteur

  • 5 of 5

Location

From the Owner

St Avit Senieur is an active yet quiet community with an interesting mix of established local French families and ex-pat. English, Dutch and Belgians fully integrated into the social scene. There is a first class restuarant in the centre as well as a bar/cafe for decent coffee, on tap beer, and home baked bread daily. The houses are mainly built of yellow/orange sandstone and most date from the 17th./18th. century, constructed mostly with stone robbed from the ancient Abbey destroyed during the 100 years war. From it's elevated fortified position the village has some fine views across the area which is for the most part wooded. There is a supermarket and bank within 5 kms. and Bergerac town and airport with daily flights to the UK is only 30 mins. away.
