Chalet La Giettaz offers 10 spacious, recently-refurbished apartments in a large, traditional chalet. Our apartments vary in size, sleeping between 2 and 10 people. Guests enjoy exclusive use of our on-site spa (jacuzzi and sauna) and bar facilities, where we serve evening meals, located in the old barn next to the chalet. We occupy a beautiful location above the picturesque Savoyard village of La Giettaz, surrounded by fabulous Alpine scenery: a wonderful location for year-round holidays with family and friends. All apartments have comfortable beds, spacious living areas and fully-equipped kitchens. All but one have outdoor space: either a balcony, terrace or garden access, depending on the position in the building. Several apartments have ensuite facilities and some have baths as well as showers. The chalet has private parking and all apartments are allocated a lockable, walk-in storage cupboard in the basement, where guests can store skis, bikes or other outdoor equipment.

The closest ski lift to the property is a short drive away (4km / 7 minutes). Free parking is available at the lift or we run a minibus shuttle from the chalet. This lift is part of the Portes du Mont-Blanc ski area, linking with Megève and Combloux. Further skiing is available in the La Clusaz and Espace Diamant areas, each only 15 minutes drive from the chalet, meaning that you have easy access to almost 800km of pistes across 3 separate ski areas during your stay.

Very spacious, 3-bedroom apartment, measuring at least 75m², on the ground or lower-ground floor of the Chalet.


Two double/twin bedrooms and one room with bunkbeds (90 cm width). En-suite shower facilities in one of the bedrooms.

Living Area/Kitchen

The living room has a sofa-bed with memory foam mattress (135 cm width). Large windows and outside space with stunning views over the La Giettaz valley.

All our apartments have ipod docks, televisions and fully fitted-kitchens with dishwashers, as well as private walk-in storage rooms for sports equipment and luggage. Washing machine included.

Special interest holidays:

The chalet is an excellent base for walking, cycling, mountain biking and other activity holidays.

The village is surrounded by fabulous walking trails with wonderful views of Mont Blanc and the Aravis mountains. Trails run through picturesque meadows and mountain forests, covered with streams and waterfalls and offering great opportunities for wildlife spotting.

For cyclists, the chalet is 4km from the Col des Aravis and within striking distance of many other challenging climbs, including the Cols de la Croix-Fry. Colombiere and Saisies and the Cormet de Roseland. More leisurely routes can be found around Lake Annecy, a short drive from the chalet. The 2013 Tour de France will pass within 10km of us.

Many of the local ski lifts operate in summer for mountain biking, and graded trail maps are available from the local tourist office.

Group bookings are welcome throughout the year.

We also offer writing and photography retreats.


Geneva Airport 80km (1 hr 15 mins drive). Chambery Airport 90km (1hr 20 mins drive). Grenoble Airport 150km (2 hrs drive). Lyon Airport 180km (2 hrs 15 mins drive).


The nearest major ski resorts are Megève and La Clusaz, both around 15km from the chalet.

The beautiful town of Annecy, with its wonderful lakeside setting, is 45km away.

Chamonix, gateway to Mont Blanc and global capital for extreme winter sports, is 60km from the chalet.

Further Details:

Summer in the Alps is a fantastic choice for a family holiday. As well as there being a playground and mini golf (with kids trampoline) in the village, there is also a small waterfall that is easy walking distance and is a safe and fun place for paddling. All of the villages in the surrounding region offer play areas with bouncy castles or trampolines that are easy to stop at along the way to an activity or to the supermarket. A favourite place for many guests is the local swimming lake at Flumet, 10 minutes drive from the chalet and set in beautiful surroundings with a large playground that kids of all ages just love.

Our youngest guests have enjoyed a variety of activities, including watching the animals being fed and milked at the local farm, taking the train up to the spectacular 'Mer de Glace' above Chamonix to walk through the colourful ice caves, pedalos on Lake Annecy, crossing over stepping stones in the mountain streams, pony rides, and whizzing down the summer luge in the safe embrace of mum or dad!

Baby carrier backpacks can be hired in the village, and cable cars run in July and August, meaning there's nothing stopping guests of any age from accessing off-the-beaten track walks and spectacular views.

Most importantly, this part of the world offers a peaceful, friendly, and pollution-free environment in which kids can have fun, find adventure, get involved with the great outdoors and even learn some French and Geography - it's amazing how much they pick up in a week's holiday!
