Our holiday homes in Rannoch have stunning views of mountains, lochs and forests, surrounded by wildlife such as red squirrels, deer, osprey, pine marten, eagles. This National Scenic Area is an unspoilt paradise for those who love nature and peace and quiet. Yet we are within easy driving distance of many interesting visitor attractions from distilleries to historic castles, gardens to wool shops, Loch Ness to Loch Lomond, Balmoral to Edinburgh. Each cottage is privately located and has its own character. They range from a romantic two-person cottage with four-poster to an eight person tower house by the river, with other charming cottages sleeping 4 to 6 by loch, river and forest. The cottages are fully equipped and we provide linen and towels and toiletries. A huge range of activities are available in the area from white water rafting and safaris to horse-riding. There are a cinema and theatre within 30 minutes drive. Fishing and tennis are available on the estate free of charge. Dogs are welcome and children especially so. Wifi in most cottages. This cottage, converted from two to form a large single detached cottage, has been totally renovated to form a comfortable, warm and spacious home from home. It has a large picture window with wonderful view in the sitting room and there is a dining area with plenty of space.

The comfortable sofa and chairs surround a woodburning stove and there is flat screen TV and DVD player.

The cottage is situated next to a quiet road and surrounded by fields with the hills beyond.

There is garden furniture and private parking. All cottages have use of a boat in summer. This cottage has wifi internet access.

About the Owner

Dunalastair Estate is owned and run by Ian and Rose de Sales La Terriere who, in spite of their name, are Scottish! The family have lived on the estate since 1891. We have six children and, so far, ten grandchildren who love to come and play in the woods and streams and row on the loch, and climb the hills and play tennis. We just love Dunalastair and can't imagine living anywhere else. It is difficult to find anywhere to go on holiday nicer than where we live! We are very lucky and like to share Dunalastair with our visitors. We have been letting holiday cottages for 44 years now and 50% of our holidaymakers have visited us before, some as many as 20 times, or have been recommended to us by friends.

From the Owner

The estate consists of hill farming of sheep and cattle, forestry, trout fishing, sport shooting and holiday cottages (since 1971). The family run the estate with close attention to the environment and are currently developing a new herd of highland/shorthorn cattle that will live out in the wilder parts of the estate and improve the habitat for wildlife. There are many rare and interesting plants and animals/birds to be seen on Dunalastair, including ospreys (summer) red squirrels, red deer, pine marten, eagles and much more.

Approx 2.5 hours from Glasgow and Edinburgh airports by car. Trains from Kings Cross to Pitlochry. Car recommended as although there is a bus, it doesn't always fit in with trains etc. For sightseeing you need a car. Cars can be hired from Pitlochry or at the airports. Great area for cycling. The famous cycle event, Etape Caledonia, is run past the cottages.


Around 1 to 3 miles from Kinloch Rannoch Village where there is a good general store, hotels, doctor, church, cafe.

Half and hour to Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Blair Castle, House of Bruar, golf courses, pony trekking, white water rafting, gardens to visit.

2 hours to Loch Ness, Balmoral, Edinburgh.

Further Details:

There is a good local store in Kinloch Rannoch and medium-size supermarkets plus delis, butchers and banks in Pitlochry and Aberfeldy. There are a lot of activities in the area such as Highland Safaris, Horse riding, White Water Rafting, Bunjee Jumping, Cycling and many more. For those who like more leisurely pursuits, the gardens of Perthshire are superb - many private gardens are open under the Yellow Book scheme. Pitlochry Festival Theatre produces excellent high quality productions and there are many good restaurants to choose from around Highland Perthshire.

Booking Notes:
You may see availability and book online at our website with ease. A deposit of 50% of the rent secures your booking and full rent is payable six weeks prior to arrival. Rental includes electricity, heating, bedlinen, towels, cleaning equipment, starter pack of logs. Wifi internet in some cottages.

Changeover Day:
Some cottages changeover on Friday and some on Saturday. We also offer short breaks. Please enquire.

Notes on prices:
Rental includes VAT at the current rate. If this should change, unpaid rental charges will be amended accordingly. Rental rates include bedlinen and towels, and heating and electricity and a starter pack of logs. Two dogs allowed at £16 per dog/week.
