A little gem

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in Michael's apartment in Gulluk and would happily have stayed for another 2. The apartment was clean and tidy and being on the ground floor it was a short walk down to the large swimming pool which is a highlight of the development. It also has air conditioning and free wifi which is very useful. Michael was very helpful with arranging transfers to and from the airport which only takes about 15 mins and he provided a very helpful guide to the development and things to do in Gulluk.

Gulluk itself is little gem, unspoilt and very friendly. Most of the bar and restaurant owners speak very good English. Kucuk and the Yacht club restaurants are well worth a visit and the Broken Barrel bar is a great place to chill out over a beer, the owner Joe and his son were particularly friendly and helpful during our stay.

The Mehmet Donmez boat trip was a particular highlight - 8 hours at sea, a good lunch, melon and wine and tea and biscuits on the way back with a few surprises and a lot of fun and games along the way, all for £12!!! So good we did it twice.

Highly recommended and we will be returning next year.

From the Owner

As a investment. To me the area is magical, its such a lovely place to chill out. The scenery alone is spectacular and the weather is truly wonderful well for at least 300 days a year which is not bad. The thing with Gulluk it's a lovely quaint fishing village and therefore I have always found the people so friendly and helpful perhaps in the more commercial areas like Bodrum (by the way the route to Bodrum from Gulluk is the most beautiful journey you will ever experience) the men folk are are bit in your face for trying to sell things. Seriously if you want VFM food, brilliant weather, love water and a place to relax then personally I have not been to a place that matches up to Gulluk, Turkey.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

Special interest holidays:

Boat trips can be arranged though the key holder Joyce Ward.

easiest transport method is by Dolmus (buses) very cheap and frequent to Milas & Bodrum.

Car hire is a plenty from the village Gulluk, price depends on season.

Beach approx 10 to 15 min casual walk with the town/village a further 5 min.

Gulluk and this apartment is just 10 minutes drive from Bodrum-Milas airport. There are several airlines which fly to Bodrum including EasyJet, Monarch, FlyThomasCook, Pegasus, Thomson, Turkish Airlines, Air Berlin, Air France and many more.

Gulluk is a 10 minute walk from the complex.

Further Details:

You will love wandering around its quaint little shops. You will also find a local bank, cash machines and car/moped hire should you need them. There is a weekly market (Thursday) here and two excellent supermarkets that will provide you with all your supplies. There are a number of bakeries where you can purchase fresh bread, traditional Turkish savouries and pastries such as Baklava.

There are a number of restaurants / cafes where you can sample a traditional Turkish dish, whether it is locally caught fish or traditional meat dishes. These can be eaten either in the cafe or take it away.

Gulluk has its own beach and there are others to choose from in this area. You can also take a ferry to Bodrum from Gulluk harbour.

You can see the local fishermen bring in their catch and if you like fish there is no better place to experience the taste of fresh fish dishes than Gulluk's harbor-front restaurants. There is a fish market in Gulluk so you can buy your own and cook it back in the apartment.

By day this gorgeous little fishing village is quietly energetic with experiences for both families and couples alike. I cannot stress enough just how un spoilt Gulluk is, in the way in which the Turkish people live their everyday lives.

By night you can experience the excellent local restaurants overlooking Gulluk harbour and the whole wide bay with the beautiful Aegean Sea. They serve every type of food and the quality is excellent. You can have a stroll along the promenade, stop off and have a few drinks, or during the summer months venture out on an evening cruise on one of the boats situated only minutes from your apartment. A number of restaurants provide entertainment and dancing in the evening.
