Penthouse Apartment in Tavira, Eastern Algarve, Portugal - Peaceful Location, 7 Mins Walk To Tavira Center, Lush Gardens, Swimming Pool And Childrens Pool

Set centrally in a very well situated & peaceful complex, furnished to a very high standard & extremely well equipped with air-conditioning/heating units in living room & bedrooms. There is a large tastefully furnished living room with flame effect fire, large 3 seater leather settee and 2 leather armchairs with matching footstall. There is a dining area for 6 which leads onto a balcony furnished with table & 4 chairs which overlooks pools & garden. The living area leads into a modern well furnished kitchen with all the latest equipment, including Fridge/Freezer, Dishwasher, Double Sink, Hob & Extractor, Oven, Microwave Oven, Food Steamer, Electric Juicer, Coffee Maker etc plus all the Cooking Utensils and Crockery you will need for a relaxing holiday. The master bedroom is fully furnished with a double Queen Sized Bed, bed side cabinets with lamps, large fitted wardrobes, and has en suite facilities comprising Sink/Vanity Unit, Jacuzzi Bath with Shower over, Toilet, Bidet and Heated Towel Rail. There is more than ample storage in both bathrooms. The other bedroom has 2 singles plus additional furnishings and a large fitted wardrobe. There is a comfortable Folderway Bed measuring 6ft x 3ft therefore 5 people can easily be accomodated. The Family Shower Room has Sink/Vanity Unit, Toilet & Heated Towel Rail. There is also a utility room with washer/dryer. Internal stairs lead to the 73sq. metre private roof terrace, one of the highest. The views are magnificent overlooking Tavira Town, the Mountains, the Sea & Coast down to Spain, and of course, Tavira Island which is famous for its beaches. The terrace has an electric awning, is fully furnished with lounge suite & coffee tables, dining table & 6 chairs, 5 sun loungers, BBQ, various trees & plants.

Top Notch Apartment

We have just spent another wonderful week at this fabulous apartment.

Inside it is very well decorated with good quality furniture and is very spacious, bright and airy. The lounge leads out to a good sized balcony overlooking the pool. Both bedrooms are also a good size and these both lead to balconies on the other side of the apartment.

There is nothing this apartment does not have from an amazing coffee machine to a set of straightening irons. The owner has thought of everything to make this a relaxing and stress free apartment.

The roof terrace is huge with an abundance of loungers, tables, chairs and a BBQ. Great for relaxing sunbathing or some alfresco dining. The terrace gets the sun all day and has wonderful panoramic views over beautiful Tavira.

The owner is extremely helpful making the booking process very easy and also providing very useful information about Tavira and the surrounding area.

Tavira itself is gorgeous. It is very quaint with some lovely small, intimate restaurants and cafes on both sides of the river.

So looking forward to our stay there next year.

Modern, spacious apartment

We spent a wonderful couple of weeks staying in this apartment which is situated in a quiet location. It is very well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday but there are supermarkets close by and Tavira town, just a short walk, has some great restaurants and a wonderful atmosphere. There is a good sized pool which was never too busy. The roof terrace has plenty of seating and sun beds and sunshine all day long. The owner was extremely helpful in providing lots of useful information before we left which helped as find our way around and settle in more quickly. Highly recommended.

Second year in a row we have stayed in this apartment. Modern bright and spacious with a fabulous 360 degree terrace with good quality outdoor loungers seating and dining furniture. Apartment is well equipped with everything you need. Shops bars and restaurants are a short walk away so no need for a car. The pool is great for cooling off and never too busy. The owners recommendations for restaurants were excellent and superb value for money. It's becoming an annual trip for us now.

Second year running and just as good

This was our second year running at the apartment and we loved it just as much as the last. The owners keep the apartment up to date and we noticed all the new renovations which were great. You cannot fault the owners in the booking process, who will help you with anything you need. Tavira charmed us once again, with its beautiful sunsets, serene river and quaint restaurants and bars. We could not fault this holiday and apartment, proven by our return visit! The roof top garden is definitely the best part of the apartment and we spent many great days by the quiet pool. We will definitely be back for a third time!

Quality Accommodation

The apartment was as described and more it was honestly like home from home. Kitchen was very well equipped and had everything you can think of. For us the best bit of the apartment was the roof terrace large dining table, casual seating area and plenty of sun loungers. Have to admit to falling asleep on the terrace a couple of times.

Our first visit to Tavira, what a lovely town, and the apartment but hopefully it wont be our last to either.

This luxury Penthouse Apartment is one of 4 tallest in the development and gives great views across the tops of other buildings, It is centrally located and looks out to the pools and gardens and not directly onto other properties. It is extremely well equipped with all you will ever need.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary


There are many close beaches with different characteristics. The beaches in E. Algarve are long & golden with clear warm water. Tavira Is. can be reached by a pleasant boat trip from town, or take the bus to Quatro Aguas where you can also catch the ferry. From Pedras del Rei on the outskirts of Santa Luzia, you can take the toy train to the beach at Barril. Drive east along the N125 and you will see the signs for beaches. Between Cacel & V R Santo Antonio the beach is unbroken. Try Praia Verde.


Faro airport and the Spanish border are both very easy to locate and approx 30 minutes drive from the apartment. Tavira railway station, a local train halt(where you can signal the train to stop) the bus station, & the taxi rank are a short walk. A car is therefore not essential. Buses will take you all over, including a visit to Saville if you so wish. The train goes east stopping at towns and villages close to the coast. It also does a similar western run to Faro, change there for Lisbon etc.

Further Details:

This Penthouse Apt is located in a residential condominium in a residential area 6-7 minutes walk from the Main Square & Historical Centre & 5 minutes from the Bus Station. The little town of Tavira, often dubbed the "Venice of the Algarve" stretches along the lagoon area of the beautiful Ria Formosa on both banks of the Rio Gilao. Just off the town to the south-west is the fantastic & famous Tavira Island, an island in the lagoon which is a short ferry ride. There you will find restaurants & bars for every taste, excellent swimming, and sunloungers & parasols for hire. The National Park is of special note. The hinterland of the town is a tapestry of broad orange & lemon plantations. This small town has managed to preserve much of its original character as despite beautiful beaches, there is still limited tourism. The site on which the town was built was presumably settled as early as the 2nd millenium BC. The Phoenicians and the Romans were succeeded by the Arabs who named the town Tabira, from which the modern name derives. After the Portuguese conquered it in 1242, this port city which had flourished during the Moorish era declined. The destruction of the town by the great earthquake of 1755 made extensive rebuilding necessary, & today, from that, the uniform style of architecture makes Tavira one of the lovliest towns in the Algarve. Sites to see inc a fort, Castro dos Mouros, 2 churches:Igreja da Misericordia & Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo. Cabanas & Pedras del Rey are two small fishing villages on the coast & very close. The beaches are spectacular, & both beaches have remained secret jewels along this coast with visitors who return year after year. Tavira Town itself has numerous local shops, restaurants, supermarkets, banks, plus a very large market for fresh fish, fruit, vegetables, meat, other essentials. It has many other places of interest which are well worth visiting and now also has a large shopping centre with cinema just on the outskirts.

Payment terms are 25% booking deposit with the balance due 6 weeks prior to arrival. If the booking is taken within the 6 week payment deadline, the full amount will be due on booking. A refundable damage deposit of £175.00 is payable with the final rental balance and will be refunded after departure following inspection of the apartment and return of the keys.

Changeover Day:
We will always try to be flexible with changeover day and length of stay however we do prefer a Saturday changeover and a minimum stay of 7 nights during July and August. Please always contact us & inquire as we will always do our best to assist.

Notes on prices:
Prices are pw in £'s & inc all cleaning, linens, towels & beach towel per person to allow you to reduce your packing. Also inc. air conditioning/heating units lounge & bedrooms between 6pm and 9am, and utilities including BBQ gas. They exclude cost of cots,high chairs,wifi device which are available for hire from our Management Co, prices on request. Special prices for rentals of 4 weeks or more from Nov 2015 to Feb 2016.

You will be sent a contract which gives payment details and all other terms. Please read and keep. A non refundable deposit of 25% is payable upon booking to reserve the property. The balance including the damage deposit of £175.00 if applicable is payable 6 weeks prior to commencement date of your holiday

You can still have a fantastic holiday in Tavira and the surrounding area without the expense and worry of hiring a car. It is possible to travel from the airport by public transport. Tavira Station is 15 minutes walk from the apartment or a very short taxi journey if you are carrying heavy luggage. Tavira Bus Station is less than 10 minutes walk and travels to numerous destinations including Saville, Spain. The centre of Tavira with all its facilities and restaurents is also less than 10 minutes walk

  • Notes on accommodation: This Apartment has been inspected & Licensed for rental purposes by "Camara Municipal de Tavira" to ensure it is more than adequately equipped & complies with all their regulations for safety, fire precautions, electricity & gas. There is a smoke alarm, a carbon monoxide alarm, fire extinguishers and fire blanket. For your security, there is an intercom/video entry system. Fly screens are fitted to the living room balcony and exit to roof terrace. This is to provide a cool breeze during the day. In addition to the airconditioning/heaters, the living room has a wall mounted remote controlled flame effect electric fire which makes winter evenings very cosy. There are electric security shutters to lounge and bedroom sliding doors. There is a wall safe in bedroom 1. There is also a comfortable folderway bed measuring 6ft x 3ft which will fit either bedroom. An additional person can therefore be accommodated. I VERY MUCH REGRET THAT SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED INSIDE THE APARTMENT. Outside: Set in a lush well kept garden area with large shared adults pool and separate shallow shared childrens pool. On the decking to the side of the pool are shared loungers and parasols. There is also a facility with changing, shower & toilet facilities. The apartment's lounge balcony which is furnished with a coffee table & 4 chairs, and is centrally positioned to soak up the morning sun, has excellent views of the garden, pool, sundeck area & the Old Town. Please see balcony photograph. The roof terrace which is also fully furnished, has informal planted boundaries and is an ideal private place to chill out and be on your own, and has additional views of the Mountains, Old Town, Port, Tavira Island, Castle, Clock Tower and Coastline towards Spain. Utility Room: Utility room houses washer/dryer, wash basin in large storage cupboard, clothes airer, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linens and towels & additionally one beach towel per person are included for your convenience to save on your luggage. The penthouse apt will be cleaned and ready for your arrival. A change of linen and towels after 7 nts if stay is for more than 1 week. Other: Spacious rear roof terrace with 5 loungers, table and 6 dining chairs, parasol. Front terrace has views out to sea and the mountains, with sofa, 4 armchairs, 2 Glass topped coffee tables and remote controlled electric awning, plants, trees and bushes.
