Guestbook comments from the owner

Kirkstone Cottage has been welcoming guests for nine years. We have a visitors book:

We've enjoyed every minute of our stay, cottage very comfortable and cosy, in great location - just heavenly! Weather was superb - sun, sun and more sun; totally un-Lakes like, didn't need waterproofs at all! Can't wait until next visit!

What a wonderful cottage; it has got everything you need. We have had a lovely New Year's week. Everything was glistening with frost, just like a Winter Wonderland! Lovely walks, lovely break, we look forward to a return visit.

We have had an excellent week in this lovely well equipped cottage. The views and location are stunning. We hope to come back again next year!

Gorgeous cottage with lovely views and a very cosy log fire. Cottage, equipment and service all first class. Thank you!

Had a lovely relaxing week in the cottage, we would return! Plenty of walking and good food and drink at the Outgate Inn and the Drunken Duck.

Wonderful cottage in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a wonderful holiday at kirkstone cottage. The cottage was very cosy and was a joy to return too each evening. The cottage had everything you could ever need. The kitchen is so well equipped that found ourselves staying in and cooking. The location of the cottage was perfect. The views out of every window were beautiful. So peaceful. I would highly recommend the cottage and would love to stay there again when we visit the lakes next time.

Lovely Tranquil Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 10 night stay at Kirkstone Cottage. The cottage is well situated off the beaten track in a quiet lane but close enough to civilisation for easy access to local attractions/pubs/shops etc. On arrival the the cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you could want or need. Views across the hills are lovely and you could hear a pin drop most of the time it was that peaceful.

Visited many Lake District attractions (Beatrix Potter & Wordsworth's homes) and enjoyed long walks from the cottage which were well signposted. If you are into it, the lake swimming is excellent and free, we tried Coniston, Wastwater & Grasmere.

The owners recommended the Outgate Inn, a five minute walk from the cottage. food was excellent and reasonable, great Sunday lunch.

Overall we had a great time and look forward to returning in the future.

Attractive and well equipped cottage

  • 4 of 5

This was a lovely place to stay. The cottage was really comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Wonderfully peaceful location. We were very lucky to have hot weather and could sit outside and look at the views in the evening. Nice pub in the village. Easy walk to Hawkshead and convenient for Ambleside and Coniston.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Information prior to arrival was comprehensive and provided efficiently. On arrival the cottage was all I could wish for; clean, cosy and very well equipped. Spacious, too, for one-bed accommodation, with enough room for the full size table in the kitchen and lots of space to relax in the living room. Great to find a gas hob in a holiday home, and the washer/dryer was invaluable given the wet weather! Full size fridge and freezer, and a good dishwasher. Combi boiler for good hot showers. And a very nice collection of books, maps and DVDs. Peaceful location in lovely scenery. Perfect!
