Holiday Cottage near Orgiva, Las Alpujarras, Spain - Rural Retreat Offering Stunning, Panoramic Mountain Views

Beautifully modernised open-plan casita, set in an acre of private land, offers modern comforts alongside antique character. Ideal for a couple looking to escape the city or a young family - travel cot and high chair are available on request. Casita Florita was renovated in 2011, bringing the comforts of home into a traditionally built Spanish cottage with a unique Moroccan / Indian style. Antique features include Indian doors and hand-carved stone windows. Elsewhere, new double glazed windows sit next to a bespoke kitchen, with marble worktops throughout. The bathroom also contains antique Spanish tiles. The surrounding land hosts many orange, olive, fig and eucalyptus trees and offers uninterrupted, stunning mountain views; of the Sierra Nevada in one direction, the Sierra Lujar in the other. There are numerous shady areas to relax in: on one of three terraces, beneath a large gazebo, in a hammock strung between trees or on an antique bed under a fig tree.

Notes on accommodation: This open-plan L-shaped space naturally divides into living space and bedroom with en suite bathroom. Although there is no swimming pool on our land, a large, public pool is opening in Orgiva and is about 15 minutes walk away. There is a large electric fan in the bedroom. Outside: The casita sits within three distinct terraced areas, one of which hosts an outdoor table and four chairs, with sun umbrella. Another contains an antique French bed - ideal for siestas! - while the third has some seating incorporated into the casita walls. A shady gazebo, complete with its own chairs and plants, stands a few steps away, while an inviting hammock is strung from a pair of nearby trees. The acre of private land is mostly bordered by dry stone walls, laid to grass and contains many orange, olive and fig trees, watered using the traditional Spanish method. There are many wild flowers dotted around the casita. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bedlinen provided. Property is cleaned before and after each guests' stay.

Pretty and quiet

Very pretty house with a big garden and the equipment required. We've enjoyed our break time in this area, with sunny days for this November period (25 degrees). We hope to have the pleasure to come back.

From the villa it is a 35 minute (approx) drive to the nearest beach, in Salobrena. There is a great choice of beaches running along the coast in either direction away from Motril.


Granada Airport is around 50 minutes away. Malaga Airport is around 1 hour and 3/4 away.


Orgiva is five minutes away by car or a 15 to 20 minute walk. Granada (home to The Alhambra) is 45 minutes. The local, extremely picturesque mountain villages are around 30 minutes drive up the surrounding mountains. Tibetan monastery up in the mountains, is around 40 minutes away. Beaches around 35 minutes drive towards the coast. Lanjaron, a nearby spa town with a castle, is about 20 minutes.

Further Details:

Local town of Orgiva is very friendly, with lots of bars and restaurants. There are two health food shops and a covered market. A weekly outdoor market selling fruit and vegetables, as well as crafts, jewellery, etc takes place every Thursday, close to a children's play area. The town has several banks, all with ATMs, as well as many supermarkets and bakeries. Walking and horse riding are very popular activities in the local Alpujarras mountains and it is possible to go on organised trips.
