Bright, sunny, comfortable and airy one bedroom ground floor apartment with great mountain views. Sunny lounge with French windows which open out to the balcony, modern well-equiped fitted kitchen and separate bedroom with bunk beds this year we have had new flooring throughout and new table, chairs and sideboard. Located opposite to nursery ski slope and the free ski bus stop. Minutes walk to fantastic traditional restaurants, ski hire, mini supermarket, snack shop and the bakery. Ski Cave in the basement great for storing skis or suitcases. Outside car parking space. We love our apartment and I'm sure you will too!!

Why claire king chose Portes du Soleil area
I've been skiing since i was 4 so i've been to many ski villages but i just love Chatel, it short transfer and village charm is just what the doctor orders. Chatel is a delightful farming village in the Portes du Soleil the amount off skiing is unbelievable, i have been skiing in Chatel now for 14 years and always had snow.
The best objective to describe Chatel is "unspoilt". I just love being able to ski in France one minute and Switzerland the next.
The bustling village center of Chatel has many bars, shops and weekly markets selling regional specialities has a friendly welcoming atmosphere.

Clean, bright and warm. located so close to lifts.
As the bedroom has bunk beds, which is very convenient when children are in bed early and the adults can enjoy the vino and sky TV in the other room!!

Great find, compact apartment, very clean and tidy, fantastic location for the Linga lift.. Claire the owner lovely to deal with.. we had a small problem sorted in hours.
Me and my boyfriend stayed here for the week and thought it was fantastic I mean for what you're paying for it! Clair was very helpful towards us. The property was lovely and clean and spacious. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a nice quiet week away as the only disappointment is if you are teenagers there is no wifi, but with that view who needs wifi? I can honestly say it is fantastic.

There are more than 65km of footpaths in and around Chatel and over 300km of well marked trekking routes in the Portes du Soleil.
Chatel is a very popular mountain biking resort in the summer with over 24 lifts open giving access to 580km of marked cycle tracks in the Portes Du Soleil.
White water rafting.
Rafting is done on the river Dranse. A team of well organised and professional instructors will ensure that you have a safe but thrilling day out. While you are here you can also try canyoning, white water swimming, canoeing and paragliding.
This is unique to Chatel, there are 2 fantasticable lines stretching over Plain Dranse.
If you wish to see the mountains on horse back then this can also be organised through the local stables.
Within 1km of an alpine lake for fishing and diving. Lake Geneva is 40 mins by car - perfect for boating and sailing in the summer.
For self-drive, Calais is about 9 hours away. To fly, Chatel is approximately 90 mins from Geneva airport. Car hire (from either side of Geneva airport) is recommended as it can often work out cheaper than an airport transfer.
Buses are also available from Geneva bus station. Train to Aigle (CH) or Thonon-les-Bains (FR).
A short stroll to the local bakery, ski hire shop, supermarket, slopes and restaurants. 1km from Chatel town centre with a free ski bus running throughout the day. 5 mins drive to pre-la-Joux, 15 mins drive to Abondance village and 5 mins to Morgins in Switzerland.
Less than an hour's drive to Thonon-les-Bains, Lake Geneva, Morzine, and Annecy. Geneva, Lausanne, Chamonix and Italy are just over an hour away.

Flexible changeover (although Saturday - Saturday preferred).
Short breaks/long weekends available on request.
