Beautiful home in a charming traditional village with views and a convenient location.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful Christmas holiday at "Emlinz Retreat" in Maroni. The weather was uncommonly rainy, but the house was a very comfortable place for our family of five (parents with three young-adult children) to relax and prepare our own holiday fare. The house is traditional and charming, but also fully functional and spacious. In are many rooms, plus the annex across the courtyard, so there was more than enough space for all in our group. The kitchen is large and fully-equipped and we put it to full use with holiday baking. The dining room off the kitchen is huge -- with large windows on three sides it was a lovely place to watch the rain or to look for rainbows over the fields leading to the sea.

Maroni is a quaint rural town and the house is very near the postcard-pretty village center. There is a church and a very convenient little grocery store just a few minutes WALKING from the house. There is also a charming little coffee shop that serves beer and wine, as well as coffee and tea, just a block from the house.

Maroni is close to the sea (3 minutes in a car to the nearest beach) and the fishing harbor town of Zygi which have many great tavernas. Maroni is also convenient ( 5 min driving) from the main east-west highway. It's extremely peaceful and quiet in Maroni, but not far-removed from sites or services. It was a great home-base for exploring the whole island.

The house was immaculate when we arrived and Linda made an extra effort to include decorations for the holidays. Linda was a wonderful host who care of every detail in advance and made our stay comfortable and easy.

Fabulous holiday in a beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic family holiday here in October, our first in over 10 years and we couldn't have chosen a better place. The house is absolutely gorgeous and there was more than enough room for all 5 of us. Linda couldn't have been more welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The village itself is beautiful and is within easy reach of local ammenities which are just a short drive away. We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent here and cannot wait to return. This is a truly stunning traditional Cypriot retreat and we cannot recommend it highly enough

Perfect place for a relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

A stunningly beautiful home to unwind in lovely cyprus. We stayed in september, and linda's place was perfect for cocktails as the sun went down and al fresco dinners on the terrace. The pool was great, long enough to do some laps and the perfect temperature to cool off. The house is a lovely stone building but has every modern facility and linda was available for any questions. It has a great location, not too far from the airport and has stunning views over to the mediterranean. It's a great place to run from, through the village and down to the beach. The village itself is small, but has a shop and a great little square with a restaurant serving traditional cypriot food. It's an easy drive from the house to nearby beaches or further afield to limassol and nicosia. I would love to stay here on every holiday!

Best villa holiday

  • 5 of 5

From start to finish this was the best villa holiday we have had.

Linda was great and so helpful with my continuous questions, she made some wonderful recommendations of places for us to visit.

The villa is unbelievable, traditional mixed with modern, it has everything you need and is in a great location.

Wonderful views out to the sea and it was lovely having the goats process past every morning. We spent enjoyable days around the pool and enjoying meals on the terrace. Oh and on an evening we would sit on the large swing chair on the upper balcony watching the sun set....ideal. The village is lovely and you have a small shop and larger supermarket at hand. Added bonus is the lovely restaurant in the old square called George's. The staff are great and all the food is cooked fresh on a grill, we had some great meals or you can just pop up on an evening for a drink.

There is a lovely village a few kilometres called Zigi with some wonderful fish restaurants.

I would highly recommend this villa and can't thank Linda enough for making it such a wonderful stay and we are coming back next year with our parents.

There is nowhere better!

  • 5 of 5

We think our title says it all really - we have stayed all over the world in different types of accommodation, yet have never found anywhere to match this. It's a real home, where you can relax, mooch about and feel totally free and easy. Linda has furnished the cottage in an eclectic mix of East and West - lovely appealing colours and so comfortable and clean. Cook if you want to - or not - plenty of choice for restaurants or tavernas in the neighbourhood - all good, especially the fresh fish in the local village of Zyyi. Take a leisurely stroll through the village and feel like a Cypriot. We had the most wonderful two weeks and would recommend Emlinz Retreat to anyone from anywhere!

All we could have hoped for...and more

  • 5 of 5

I really don't know where to start. I could write pages about this wonderful house but I'll try to keep it brief instead.

We met Linda as arranged just outside Larnaca airport to lead us to Maroni about 30 minutes away. She has that great knack of making you think you already know her and are just catching up.

The house is exactly as described except that maybe the description doesn't do it justice. I had a great time just looking around both in the house and gardens and Maroni village. We loved the fact that Maroni and Zygi just along the coast (where we mostly ate) are traditional Cypriot villages but the motorways to just about everywhere are only a few minutes away...although the B roads are just about as good, quieter and more scenic.

We are definitely looking to return and next time hopefully for longer to allow us to spend more time at the house but also be able to explore more of Cyprus.

I can't imagine that anyone could stay at Emlinz Retreat and not have a great time.
