Victorian Cottage In Mumbles, Swansea, Wales - Central Location - Only Moments From Sea Front!

This beautiful cottage is located in an enviable position with views of both the sea and the castle. It has recently been renovated by the owners and is fully equipped for families, and groups alike. It sleeps 4 and a travel cot can be provided for babies/small children. There is a secure patio area where bikes and surf boards can be stored. All of the lovely bars, restaurants and shops of Mumbles are within a short stroll of the property. There is gas central heating thoughout and a combi boiler providing hot water on demand. There is also an electric fire in the dining room.

About Melissa Howard

I am originally from Wales and have always loved holidaying in the Gower. As a family we enjoy regular stays in Myrtle Cottage and we hope that you will too!

What makes this cottage unique

We love to spend time with our 2 girls on the beach, usually Langland when we are in Mumbles and our dog Maxi enjoys running about on the beach too!

We have great fun trying to surf and body board and generally messing around in the sea.

My husband loves to play golf and has enjoyed playing many of the local courses with his friends.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely place in the mumbles. The positives are;

Great location in the heart of the village but quiet

Good amount of space

Shower and bath in separate bathrooms

Good central heating

Host was helpful and easy to get in touch with

Good strong wifi

Nice well equipped kitchen

The only little niggles and I mean little were:

Television has an inside tv aerial which required wiggling to get different channels

You need a permit to park outside which is £25 per week or part of week. The property is good value and its still reasonable even with this cost included but I didn't notice the need for a permit till I had booked

Overall this property is a great find and I would love to book again

Reasonable size semi in good location with adequate facilities.

Could do with new matresses and a bit of an update. It is in an excellent location in Mumbles which in turn is a great base to explore the beautiful Gower coast.

Everything we needed

Clean, tidy & excellent position, just a street away from the sea. This quaint cottage had everything we required for a perfect stay in Mumbles.

The help & guidance given by Melissa both prior & during our stay was first class with everything on hand as promised.

The house was tastefully decorated from top to bottom and felt a bit like a 'Tardis', bigger in the inside than the outside suggested.

We have visited Swansea a number of times and the advice given to eat at the White Rose Pub was both very filling & kind on the pocket!

I would recommend family & friends to stay here without hesitation & hope that we can be back next year.

Good Location

Good Location within walking distance for Beach,Shops and Pubs.Property was clean with good facilities apart from a leaky shower. There are several fantastic beaches within half hour drive where our dogs enjoyed some freedom. Would recommend for dog friendly,or Family stay.

Special interest holidays:

Walkers, ramblers and runners will not be disappointed with the many routes and trails available to them through the breathtaking backdrop of the Gower Pennisula. Surfers and kitesurfers will be well catered for with the fantastic beaches of the Gower penninsula. Dog owners are welcome and there are plenty of dog friendly beaches some within walking distance of the cottage. Rhosili beach (a short drive) features in The Times top 10 dog friendly beaches in the UK!

Mumbles is a short drive from the sports grounds of Swansea and Myrtle Cottage provides an ideal base for those wishing to visit the Liberty stadium or St Helen's.


The 2 nearest sandy beaches are Langland Bay and Caswell Bay. They are easily accessed by car (pay and display car parks). There are also regular buses from Newton Road to both beaches. It is also possible to walk to Langland Bay as it is a little over a mile away. Younger children will also enjoy Bracelet Bay with its many rock pools, great for a not so sunny day. Other beaches well worth a visit include Oxwich, Rhosilli, 3 Cliffs and Llangennith.


Swansea train station approx 15 minutes drive (5miles). Short drive from ferry port.

Further Details:

Whilst our cottage doesn't have WiFi there are lots of locations in the village that provide free WiFi access only a short walk away.

Mumbles is a very family friendly destination with lots of bars and restaurants that happily accommodate children. To aid our customers with children who would like an evening out we can provide the details of a local child minder who is CRB checked, Ofsted registered, mature and reliable.

A deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking to be paid in full 6 weeks prior to holiday. If booking less than 6 weeks in advance please note the full amount is payable.

PETS- Some pets are accepted by prior arrangement provided that they have their own sleeping bed/basket and are not left unattended in the property. They must be house trained, well behaved and kept off the soft furnishings/beds.

Changeover Day:
Changeover is flexible - but on a Saturday in high season. Departure is appreciated by 10 am but obviously we are flexible according to bookings.
