Nice 2 bedroom apartment, located in the popular resort of Marina Duquesa with everything you could wish for including long sandy beaches, vast range of popular restaurants and coffee shops. Easy access from both Malaga airport, and Gibraltar airport (50 min and 25 min drive). Never over crowded ideal for family holidays and golfing holidays.The apartment has been upgraded recently, with the purchase of a new comfortable suite in the sitting room and a luxurious bed in the main bedroom.

About Richard Watson

Hi my name is Rick, I have 4 grown up kids and as a family we have always enjoyed holidaying in Spain, and so one day while enjoying a nice relaxing lunch in the Marina we decided to buy our own place having enjoyed a lovely time holidaying in Duquesa which is about a 45min drive on the Motorway from Malaga Airport or a 20min drive from Gibraltar Airport. We fell in love with Duquesa with it's beautiful sandy beach and lovely Marina with a vast selection of restaurants and bars.

Why did I choose Duquesa? Having looked at a number of properties along the costa del sol we decided that Duquesa with it's lovely Marina and miles of unspoilt beaches was what we where looking for, it is never over crowded and with it's ease of access from both Airports you can be in your apartment in no time at all.As regards a family holiday it is very welcoming for all age groups and you can feel very safe walking around at any time of the day or night. I have been a resident of the area for 10 years now and have seen many changes and improvements over that time.

What makes this apartment unique

Staying at Marina Duquesa you will enjoy the benefits of 4 swimming pools,access to the beach, Marina 2mins away, 24hr security, modern apartment with air conditioning Sky tv, marble floors nice balcony with sun in the afternoon [ nice to relax after a hard days sunbathing by one of the many pools]. All the gardens are maintained to a very high standard and the complex has full time cleaning staff who are constantly working to keep the complex in pristine condition.

Notes on accommodation: This apartment is kept in pristine condition and we would like to think our guest would appreciate this make every effort to maintain these high standards while enjoying their stay in Duquesa. Outside: The complex has 4 swimming pools, beautiful landscaped gardens,24hr security and direct assess to the large sandy Beach. On your balcony you can enjoy the afternoon sun while relaxing with a glass of wine and your favourite book. Utility Room: Utility room has a washing machine and storage area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen are provided,and can be changed on a weekly basis. Cleaning can be organised for longer stays. Other: Nice hall way with storage press with ironing board and some ball games.

Fantastic Family Holiday 2nd year in a row

We are a family of four (Kids 3 & 5). Its our 2nd time in this apartment, we loved it, we stayed 9 nights last year and came back for 2 weeks this year. We found the apartment to be so spacious, clean and had everything we wanted.

The location is amazing, great pools in the complex, beach & promenade right outside the gate. There are numerous playgrounds within a few minutes walk. All the restaurants again were so close and were so welcoming to the kids.

Loads to do in the area, did a boat trip to see dolphins and hired bikes along the promenade.

Richard the owner was really nice and friendly.

Overall I would highly recommend this apartment.

Perfect Family Holiday

Just back from our beautiful week away in January.

This was our first family holiday as we have a small baby and we were quite nervous. But on arrival our nerves vanished. It is a lovely apartment in a big complex with 4 swimming pools, a games room, overlooking the beach (entrance to the beach from the complex) and only a 2 min walk to the beautiful marina where there is an abundance of bars, restaurants and shops with plenty to do.

We had a week of good weather which helped(16 -18 degrees). It wasn't too warm as it was January and we escaped any rain too which was a plus.

The apartment was just what we wanted. It was very well furnished and had all the amenities we could want including wifi, tv, great kitchen and a lovely balcony for relaxing in the evenings.

All in all it was a great holiday and I will definitely be returning this year or next.

Lovely Apartment and a great location!

We had a really lovely relaxing week in this apartment with my sister and her husband (2 couples). I've just booked again for September and realised that I hadn't left a review - so here it is! Better late than never - as the adage goes ;-) The owner was very accessible during our last stay - not that there was anything to complain about as everything was just perfect :-) but he was very helpful with information on the amenities and the area as we hadn't been there before. When I mislaid the key one evening and I contacted him in a bit of an embarrassed fluster he could not have been more helpful, He arranged a replacement key for me via his local agent astonishingly fast and saved the day :-) We're all looking forward to returning in September - it can't come quick enough! Many thanks again to the owner and his agent.

PS - I nearly forgot to mention the very comfortable beds - excellent! I was recovering from lumbar surgery and was anxious that the beds wouldn't suit . but I can honestly say that it was as good as my own bed...top marks! :-)

Absolutely fab!

Was a little bit apprehensive about booking a private owners home after some stories I've heard but this apartment more than met our expectations. Myself and my boyfriend went for a week in January just to get away and couldn't fault it. The owner has it lovely and so much more homely than standard hotel apartment. The couch and beds were very comfortable. It was spotless throughout which was very important to me. the motorway is close enough but it is just a road that I didn't find a problem and didn't cause us any problems sleeping. We sat on the balcony every morning and evening and enjoyed cooking dinner in the apartment 2 nights as the facilities were so good in the kitchen. Shower was lovely and constant hot water a definite plus. Owner provided us with perfect directions to get public transport from airport but once we got there, everything is literally within a 5 min walk so unless you are going to a different town, there is no extra expenses of taxis. The beach is literally a minute walk from the apartment door which was lovely for a stroll but we didn't get to make full use of it with the weather not being great. I have just booked to go back over with 3 of my friends for a week in August which I am looking forward to getting full use of the pool and the beach. The port and restaurants and shops are beautiful and it is a fab area to be staying in. Would recommend highly to anyone thinking of heading to that area.

Noisy location unhelpful owner

This apartment was advertised as peaceful location – what a joke.

Property near a main busy road with traffic day and night - very noisy – unable to sit out on balcony due to traffic noise and fumes.

There were Spanish neighbours downstairs who had tv on loud and yelled and ranted on their balcony till early hours and back up again at 6 to continue – 2 dogs constantly barking.

The property is functional - not a lot of daylight even on balcony – décor dated. Satellite tv did not work – owner suggested we ask key holder who said had no idea how to fix.

Owner said he didn’t find road noisy at all – admitted knew about the neighbours – suggested we complain to the building manager to get them to be quiet! – He then confirmed that they are possibly being evicted soon but no mention of this pre our visit which is pretty unfair.

After 2 days and 3 nights we had to find another apartment and pay again – the owner refused to give any sort of refund or compromise – did offer another week next year! When we couldn’t face staying in apartment for 10 days we had paid for why on earth would we want to come back for a free week – couldn’t pay us to stay there again.

We are not elderly and don’t mind a bit of noise or bustle - we expected some being so near the port but this was awful and the lack of interest or willingness to negotiate when we only stayed 3 out of 10 nights was disappointing.

Advice to fellow travellers AVOID this property at all costs –there are plenty of great apartments at same price in the area and you won’t want to spend your precious holiday here.

Our holiday cost us twice as much in the end - completely missold

Coast/Beach:

Marina Duquesa is situated on the coast with a 3 min walk to the nearest beach, and 5 min walk to the Marina.

Travel:

Malaga Airport which is about a 50 minute drive down the new motorway is served by all the leading travel companys, Gibraltar Airport is also close by with about a 20 minute drive to Duquesa.

Distances:

Sabinillas which is a 10 minute walk along the beach is a pretty little Spanish town with a large number of restaurants specialising in Seafood and local meat dishes. Estopona is a 15 minute drive and the popular resort of Porto Banus is about 25 minute drive away.

Further Details:

There is a main bank in the port with a number of ATM machines close by, and a 3 min drive in to Sabinillas will give you a selection of banks and large supermarkets.
