Barn Conversions in Exhall, Alcester, Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, England - Peaceful location, with lovely country views

Staying at Glebe Farm Cottages is a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! Situated in beautiful countryside, the cottages are inviting with comfortable accommodation. To the front of the properties is plenty of parking and a pretty farmyard setting with parts of the original farmhouse dating back to the Tudor period. For centuries it was the home of the local clergymen who preached at the tiny, very old church, next door.

Great potential, decent stay

Don't get me wrong - the location is great, but there were a few too many details that weren't great to give it a higher rating.

First the bad... when we arrived, the floors were still extremely wet from a recent mopping and took most of the night to dry out. Despite the recent attention, there were still clumps of dirt and miscellaneous bits all over the floor that we had to vacuum before we could let our 9 month old crawl around.

The floors upstairs are incredibly noisy and wakes most people if someone (again, little kids) gets up in the night. The bathrooms are a good size, but the toilets take a few flushes to clear and the master shower drain was almost completely clogged.

Finally, the play set in the back garden was infested with honey bees! Between that and the un-fenced pond, not really a good place to let the kids run around. If the pond were cleaned out, I'm sure ducks would come back!

Now the good! The setting was idyllic - the sheep field out back provided a relaxing bleating backdrop... too quiet to disturb, but loud enough to relax! The location was convenient (once used to the routes in and out of Stratford) and not too far from pubs and shopping (recommend checking out the Fish Pub).

The price was competitive, and the property (ignoring the points above) was well maintained.

Notes on accommodation: Three lovely Barn/Stable conversions all with comfortable up to date accommodation. One cottages sleep five, one sleeps 4 and one sleeps two. Duck Pond also has a one bedroom Annexe - prices on application, please. Outside: To the back of Duck Pond is a private terrace with large table and chairs to seat eight. Beyond is a communal garden with play equipment and a very pretty duck pond. The Cart Hovel also has a patio at the back. To the front of the three properties there is plenty of parking in an attractive farmyard setting.
