This historic sixteenth century cottage is centrally located on Aldeburgh’s ever-popular High Street, close to the famous shops, restaurants and the beach. "This is one of the oldest buildings in the smart seaside town of Aldeburgh. It's incredible to gaze up at the rafters in the beamy master bedroom and think that somone was living here doing exactly the same when Henry VIII was on the throne" (Bella Sept 2011). On the ground floor there’s a large living room with a wood-burning stove, a dining room, a kitchen and a bathroom. Upstairs you’ll find two bedrooms (a king and a twin). The main bedroom has raised sloping ceiling which makes it unusual and dramatic. At the back there is a raised patio garden which has a bbq, table and chairs and is suitable for outside eating.

Both of us work in financial services, have 2 young kids and live north of London. We advertise 2 properties on Owners Direct in Lake Como and Suffolk. They are both extremely different in many ways (built almost 300 years apart!). We hope you would enjoy staying in either.

Why Toby Belsom chose Suffolk

We live north of london and wanted some where as a bit of bolt hole for the weekends. We didn't really know Aldeburgh and the suffolk coast before searching for a coastal poperty within a couple of hours drive of home. We both feel really lucky to own this property and feel like we own a bit of history.

What makes this cottage unique

Walks on the beach (whatever the season), great local pub and an exceptional local fish and chip shop. I also like to play the occasional golf round at either thorpeness and aldeburgh. We ar eboth looking forward to getting to know Aldeburgh much better over the coming years.

Notes on accommodation: Sorry, no smoking, or unaccompanied teenagers permitted at the property. The modern gas boiler is located in the main bedroom. One well behaved dog is permitted and must be stated at the time of booking. Outside: There is a generous patio garden with a small shed, outside table and 4 chairs plus a bbq. It is located at the back of the property and perfect for outside dining and bbqs. Utility Room: A travel cot and a high chair are available on request from the owners – please mention when booking. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided. Other: Dining room: This has a modern glass-topped table and six chairs with high backs. The kitchen is reached through the dining room. The cottage has many original features - but be prepared to mind your head!!.

A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The bookings are processed through a local agent hence credit card are fine (though small extra charge). The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit are due six weeks before your holiday commences.

Changeover Day:
Fairly flexible on bookings/departure days except in peak periods where we limit short breaks other than at late availability. Discounts on late availability (bookings 15 days in advance).
