This seventeenth century oak beamed country house with wonderful views of the Exmoor and the Brendon Hills has been recently modernised and extended. From the gates it is a short walk to the highest point of the Quantock Hills with stunning views across to Wales, Minehead and Exmoor. Wayside is within walking distance of to two well known pubs, The Blue Ball at Triscombe and The Rising Sun in Bagborough. There is off road parking for up to five cars.

Wedding Party at Wayside House

We got married at Bagborough church in June and rented Wayside House for my family to stay before and after the wedding.My family had a fantastic time at Wayside and used the tennis court, swimming pool and BBQ during their stay. They loved the cottage and gardens and hoping to return in the future.

Fabulous midweek break in 'chocolate box' cottage

The location of the cottage is absolutely beautiful, with wonderful views and a quintessential country garden, ideal for reading the latest novel. The weather was unexpectedly fabulous which enabled us to have lunch on the lawn. We used both the tennis court and the pool although I only stuck a toe in the water!! The house was spotless and the bathrooms were lovely and clean... a key thing for me as I always to look for mould.....there was none. We had a very warm welcome from Piers who could not have been more helpful. The kitchen was well equipped with a double range cooker and we were offered a catered meal for one of the nights, if we had wanted, but we chose to go out to the local pub. There are two local pubs within walking distance, but bring a torch as it is very dark at night!

The bedrooms were very clean with fresh linen. We were a mixture of ages and there was something for everyone. We went riding down the road at Quantock Trekking, and mum walked the dog the the woods onto the top of the Quantocks.

Exeter Airport 35 miles, 50 minutes. Bristol Airport 40 miles, 55 minutes. Car hire advisable.


Bishops Lydeard 3 miles. Williton 6 miles. Taunton 9 miles.

Further Details:

Bishops Lydeard has a seven days per week COOP store. Williton has COOP and Spar. We are approximately onemile from Crowcombe Park Station which is part of the West Somerset Steam Railway and we sell discounted tickets.

Outside: The property sits in approximately one acre of gardens although 1/3 of the gardens are being landscaped and will not be accessible until May 2014. There is a doubles tennis court with fabulous views, swimming pool (available from May 2014), selection of bicycles, barbecue area, south facing decked eating area, seating around the garden, loungers, sun shades and fish pond. Utility Room: Washing machine, dryer, ironing board and iron, clothes hanging area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedding and towels provided. Property cleaned before and after stay.
