Our grade ii listed cottage has been sympathetically refurbished to provide the conveniences of modern day living whilst retaining the charm of period features: woodburner, inglenook fireplace and wooden beams as well as the wifi, flat screen hd tv and dvd player! The 3 first floor bedrooms and ground floor snug have been furnished to a high standard and will meet the needs of groups of friends as well as families with children. ‘Thatches’ has direct access to its fully enclosed private garden and off-street parking area and is a short stroll away from Williton's shops, pubs, restaurants and other amenities. Watchet's marina and beaches are just 2 miles away. This is an ideal year-round holiday or short break destination and a superb base from which to explore west somerset’s many places of interest. We have wonderful countryside on our doorstep, a beautiful coastline nearby and numerous fascinating historic buildings, museums and other tourist attractions in the area. Come and enjoy!

Lovely cottage - full of character and very comfortable. Extremely well equipped and maintained.

We stayed for a weekend and it was just right for us - a group of 5 ladies. The cottage had enough living and sleeping space. The bathroom situation was slighty awkward - the only access for the upstairs bathroom was through the master bedroom. There is another shower/toilet room downstairs. The cottage was well located for exploring the local area and also convenient for the village amenities. I would certainly recommend this beautiful cottage - the owner's father, Ken, was very welcoming and informative.

Lovely homely cottage

We had a fantastic stay at Thatches. There were four of us staying (all friends) and although it was cosy there was plenty of room. We spent most of our time sitting around the table playing games!

We had a lovely friendly reception when we arrived and it was lovely and clean. The kitchen had everything you could want so we had all we needed for the weekend-I was mostly impressed with the tuppawear! We could have easily had 5 of us staying and hopefully we will in the future.

Excellent location with a local well stocked shop within walking distance. Nice pub again within walking distance and excellent fossil beaches 15 minutes drive.

Thatches was cosy but spacious enough we weren't all on each other's toes.

Lovely cottage and we will be back!

A wonderful place to relax and unwind.

The cottage is very old with old world charm and warmth. We all had a wonderful time. Good local amenities with some lovely places to eat out. Within easy reach of good places to visit. I recommend Thatched highly.

Nice cottage in convenient location

We recently stayed the weekend with 4 children under 7. The owners and their local representative were extremely helpful, both in the run-up to our stay and upon arrival. Information on local attractions were provided to help us plan our visit.

The cottage was well equipped for family use, with off-road parking and a small garden which the smallest ones couldn't wander from. The cocoa, tea, milk cartons etc made it easier to feel like we could settle from our journey before nipping out to the (extremely near) supermarket for further supplies.

Our boys loved the character of the cottage. Whilst we don't have pets ourselves, the layout of the cottage, secure (high) gates and stair-gates clearly make it suitable for people with dogs and I have already recommended the cottage to dog owners I know.

Yes we're very happy to welcome responsible pet owners and, unlike most cottages, welcome multiple 4 legged friends...but they're not compulsory! Our guests include groups of adults, families (of several generations sometimes!) as well as pet owners.

Charming period thatched cottage.

Charming cottage situated on main road in village but you were enclosed and privacy and noise was not a problem.

We were greeted by Mr Dixon (owners dad ) who was lovely. Made us feel very welcome and gave us all the info needed for cottage and local area. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, cottage was perfect for us everything we needed and more...... Bed so comfortable in main bedroom and en-suite was fab especially the roll top bath. Will definitely stay here again. Great location not to far to enjoy other area's, definitely recommend trip to Taunton (great shops). Local pub in village called The Wyndham food fab (recommended by Mr Dixon) portions huge and delicious ! Reluctant to leave throughly enjoyed our stay in this charming village and quaint cottage.

An amazing lovely cosy cottage

My family and long with a couple of friends stayed for 9 nights, we had my little girl and two dogs with us, at no point did we feel cramped. The cottage is huge with loads of room.

We had a lovely welcome on arrival, with a awesome explanation of all the cottages features. The property is well maintained and cared for like any family home.

I would recommend this cottage to any of my friends in a heart beat. We will be back.

There is so much to see and do in the area - really something for everyone for all seasons. We're a short stroll from great amenities, yet moments from wonderful countryside and a short drive from fantastic coastline.

Coast/Beach:

The beaches in the area are within easy reach & are famous for their quality. There are no fewer than six stretches of sandy coastline within 7 miles of 'Thatches'. E.g. Dunster - sand & pebbles (large picnic area & natural sea water pools & bathing) & Blue Anchor Bay or Minehead for more beach resort facilities.

Some of the other local beaches and cliffs are great places for fossil hunting including Watchet's beaches (2 miles) and Kilve (4 miles), a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Travel:

Bristol Airport, the UK's 5th largest regional airport and the gateway to south west England is about 43 miles away (1 hr 15mins approx). Exeter (EXT) is about 45 miles away (1 hr 20mins approx).

Distances:

'Thatches' is a short stroll from village shops, pubs, restaurants and other amenities in Williton. The Quantock Hills, Exmoor National Park and the West Somerset Steam Railway are on the doorstep and the Ancient Harbour town of Watchet is just 2 miles away. Dunster (Historic market town and National Trust castle) 6 miles. Seaside town of Minehead (8 miles). City of Taunton (14 miles) and town of Bridgwater (17 miles) with high street shops and 'out of town' retail and leisure parks.

Notes on prices:
If you are looking for a short break stay the Owners Direct website currently returns a somewhat crude "number of nights X weekly rate / 7" estimate. Please do bear in mind that our overheads are considerably higher for shorter stays and the estimate really is a very rough guide indeed. In calculating a short-stay rental price I will be considering the size of the group, number of pets and arrival date as well as the availability of regular changeover/cleaning staff. In order for the Owners Direct website to be able to offer a more accurate price they suggest owners break down the pricing by element & that we use the "additional guest fee" or other fee options. As we can accommodate up to 9 adults but we also appeal to couples or those with young children and/or pets, coming up with a pricing matrix that doesn't (in my view) calculate unrealistic/outrageous quotes is taxing me somewhat so please do bear with me while I work on something that fits with the new website!

'Last minute' discounted rates may be available - please enquire. Reasonable offers will be considered for late availability particularly with low occupancy for "off-peak" periods. That said, please remember we do have overheads to meet associated with the upkeep of our garden, spacious living accommodation and housekeeping. I won't always be making a song and dance about reduced rates by advertising them on the website..as there is an additional charge for "special offer" advertising. I'd rather give my guests any discount I can so please do ask!


Changeover Day:
Changeover is Saturday during UK school holidays but generally we are flexible otherwise. Check in by 17.00 (although often possible earliEr & guests are always welcome to arrive early to leave luggage etc. while we finish preparing the cottage for handover) & check out on departure is 10.30 although later checkouts may be possible (particularly off-peak) - we will be flexible on this where possible - please ask!

Thatches has direct access to its own secluded garden and off street parking. We provide generous living space for a thatched cottage - as well as the main living room we have a snug (with a sofa bed), a dining room and a sun room, so even when all bedrooms are occupied guests won't feel on top of each other. Our kitchen is well equipped with quality appliances and useful cooking utensils - a real home from home..and if we don't yet have something we probably will soon - just ask!
