About Heather Callaway

My husband and I both work in London. I am a publisher and Anthony is a lawyer, so time away is precious. We have made the villa as comfortable as possible for vacations - our home from home.

Our hobbies include travelling, gardening, skiing and sailing. We have a yacht in the Solent which we use to travel to our home in the Isle of Wight and spend summer weekends cruising locally. In France we enjoy skiing and the beaches on the lovely Cote D'Azur which are within easy reach of our villa. In Hampshire we enjoy gardening.

Anthony also studies part-time at Kings College War dept. and we have both completed a TEFL course enabling to teach English to foreign students.

We enjoy the homes ourselves and whenever possible, take our children, grandchildren, parents and friends there.

Heather Callaway purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Heather Callaway chose Isle of Wight

We have owned the house since it was built in 2010 and it is our home in the Isle of Wight, in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The house is in an idyllic position, with unobstructed views of the marina and Medina river. The house has its own mooring and we often sail to the house. The communal areas are fun and there is an area of grass leading off from the house. The Isle of Wight is wonderful, with its beautiful beaches, unrivalled countryside and the most sunshine per year in England.

We enjoy the house ourselves and whenever possible, take our children, grandchildren, parents and friends there. It is an ideal family house having plenty of space inside and out and patios and balconies leading off from the main rooms.

We have made the house as comfortable as possible.

What makes this cottage unique

Island Harbour is close to the main town of Newport (a footpath leads to the town), the world renowned Cowes and all the ferry ports. It's also great for bike rides.

If you bring your boat then there is a chandlery which has basic food supplies and newspapers. The bistro is on site, open throughout the day and offering snacks and meals.

The bar is well frequented by residents, guests and boaties. Weekends tend to be lively and there is a camp site (small) and large field and BBQ area for communal use. If you want a stroll, then the Folly Inn (where you dance on the tables on Saturday evenings) is along the towpath. The house has all the mod cons, is extremely well fitted out. There is no rushing on the Island - it is a step back to the 50s and a wonderful reminder of how good life can b

Hi Heather

Just a quick message to let you know what a lovely time we had staying at Yachtsman's Rest. It was our first visit to the island and we enjoyed it very much . Your property is lovely and in a fabulous location we hope to return another time.

Regards Laura.

I had a great time teaching my 2 year old grandson to make sandcastles at Ryde Apply beach.

Peter - August 2012

What a find - stunning location and great house! can recommend the Folly on Saturdays when we danced on the tables. Will certainly return.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay...only sorry we couldn't stay longer. Top quality accommodation with everything supplied.

We availed of the berthing at the property, which was a real bonus.

Location was perfect. Weather was perfect. Could not ask for more. We will be back.
