Luxurious leisure lodge with outstanding sea views close to coast path. Recently refurbished lounge/diner and bedrooms with the owners working with award winning interior designers SophieLouise Interiors in Exeter in 2015/early 2016 (new professional photographs pending, so mine will be out there for a few weeks!!). Fully fitted to a high standard, with super comfortable beds, spacious master bedroom, full size bath, and many luxury features. Views over farmland out to the sea. Quiet rural location, 10 minutes walk to beautiful beach. Fish and chips at both Start Bay Inn, Slapton (no booking possible) or the Cricket Inn at Beesands. Both pubs are on the coast path, and near the historic location of Hallsands village.

The decking has recently been extended to allow guests to enjoy the wonderful views.

About the Owner

My husband and I have enjoyed visiting this area for over 20 years and are now both semi retired.

Having previously run a successful holiday let cottage for 6 years in the area, we know that people like a well equipped and comfortable 'home from home' environment to relax and enjoy after a busy day exploring the fantastic facilities. The lodge is therefore upgraded to a high specification and enjoys sea views.

A truly relaxing retreat

My family (2 adults &2 children) spent a wonderful week at Sea Views in Salcombe. The location was very quiet and tranquil with outstanding views across the fields to the sea. This was a treat to wake up to, and come back to every day. The lodge itself was perfect in every way. It was clean and very well maintained. The facilities were of a very high standard. The fridge, cooker, washing machine, dishwasher were all in excellent condition and easy to use. We enjoyed all of the little extras that have been so well thought out for the visitor, from magazines of the local area, books, board games and snugly blankets that my children loved. Dealing with Caroline was very easy and comfortable - I will certainly be recommending it to my friends and family.

expectations surpassed

The lodge was larger and more luxurious than we had expected. The site was beautifully maintained and spacious. A sincerely nice relaxing week in an area of devon with lots to do. Bantham beach was 15 mins away in the car and perfect for access with our 3 small monkeys.

Lovely, relaxing holiday with a sea view...

The lodge is lovely, comfortable, spotless and well equipped. This was our second stay at Salcombe Retreat and we will no doubt return. The lodges feel like solid buildings, with all the amenities and comforts of a cottage. Beatuiful sea view, deer and badgers in the field behind and we could walk to Salcombe in under an hour and along the SW coast path in both directions to make the most of those sea views. Would definitely recommend a stay here at any time of the year.

29 Salcombe Retreat

This is a high spec well appointed luxury lodge situated on a small quiet development with south facing views over open fields and towards Soar Mill cove. Both the site and lodge are very well maintained and just a short drive from Salcombe . The lodge provides modern spacious accomadation with a contemporary feel . There are a number of coastal walks close to the site . I would definitely recommend this property .

Stunning setting, beautiful property

The lodge is set amongst the rolling hills of Devon with views to the sea, simply stunning. The property itself is a home away from home, but more luxurious. It is very clean and has all the appliances needed and more. It is situated within a small quiet site, perfect for a relaxing get away. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay there, albeit too short...and will most definitely book again. Highly recommend.

Location

From the Owner

The lodge is adjacent to a National Trust farm and has far reaching sea views, including the Edison Lighthouse at night. It is 10 minutes walk from fabulous Soar Mill Cove beach. The site is small, quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Salcombe, yet within easy reach of many of the local hot spots such as Dartmouth, Totnes and Salcombe. There are many beautiful beaches and coast walks nearby, along with bars, bistros and restaurants in Kingsbridge/Salcombe to suit all tastes and finances, as well as local produce and farmers markets for home-cooking. There are several National Trust properties in the locale. Once here, the use of a car is not necessary as the links to the coast path and beaches are on hand. There really is something for everyone here.

Coast/Beach:

Soar Mill Cove is approximately a mile away and a 15 minute walk down. The return may take longer! A drive to South Milton, Thurlestone, Bantham, Bigbury, Wonwell are @20 minutes max. Salcombe centre is a 3 mile drive, Kingsbridge 4 miles.

Walking to South Sands/North Sands at Salcombe takes 40 minutes depending on route via woods/fields or coast path.

Boats from Salcombe (2 miles by car or bus) ferry you across East Portlemouth / Golden Sands and more coast walks to Gara Rock etc.

Travel:

Exeter 30 miles. Plymouth 17 miles. Hire car is essential.

Distances:

Malborough (garage for most provisions) 1.5 miles, Salcombe 2 miles (boating, shopping, eating, beaches, boat trips) Kingsbridge 4 miles (cinema, shops, estuary, shops/market, boat trips) Totnes 10 miles (shops, rail and boat trips), Dartmouth 15 miles (shops, rail and boat trips, Exeter (major shops, harbour, river and canal canoe trips, historic interest) and Plymouth (aquarium, harbour, major shops) as above.

Further Details:

Great fish and chips at both Start Bay Inn, Slapton (no booking possible) or the Cricket Inn at Beesands. Both pubs are on the coast path, and near the historic location of Hallsands village and the World War 2 tank at Slapton. Head on to Prawle point for more good walking and famous Pig's Nose pub.

Explore Noss Mayo and the walk around the headland head towards Yealmpton 10 miles from Plymouth and drop to the coast.

Dartmoor 15 miles at nearest, but is a huge national park with many activities.

Changeover day in 2017 is Saturday to Saturday.

Any additional items hired locally are payable directly to Second-to-None, the on-site management company. This includes items such as high-chairs, travel cost or forgotten towels.

A single small dog may be allowed to stay but this is strictly by direct arrangement only, and is chargeable at £20 a week.

The balcony/open plan lounge area are comfortable and relaxing with great views over farmland and the coast. Binoculars, bird spotting books and local guide books are available for guests to use and enjoy. The kitchen is well equipped for the gourmet cook, and the bedding and decor are tasteful. All beds have been upgraded for superior comfort. For the occasional rainy day, there are books, magazines, games, toys, 3 TVs, recorder, 2 DVD players and rural WiFi.

  • Notes on accommodation: No bookings if all the party is under 25.. No smoking in or around the vicinity of the lodge please. Pets only after discussing the individual pet with the owner. BBQ tried and failed (too tough to clean between guests) so please do as we do: buy a large portable one and go along to South Milton Sands, which literally 'rocks and rolls' on summer evening and has parking near the beach. Please note: the Wifi is currently 'rural' with limited bandwidth. Please do not expect to be able to operate x4 devices with streaming etc.!!! Outside: Patio table and 4 chairs in situ with soft cushions available. Sun parasol and 4 further director type seats in shed. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen provided as are tea towels and kitchen hand towel, plus one bath towel per guest and hand towel in bathrooms BUT NOT swimming / beach towels. The property is let and cleaned on a weekly basis.
