About Mark

We are a family with Cornish roots who love Porthtowan. We bought the Beach Cottage for the stunning views over the beach and coastline beyond. We furnished the house to a high standard with 1 to 2 families in mind, so you can have a relaxing holiday in Cornwall.

Mark purchased this house in 2011

Why Mark chose Porthtowan

The North Cornwall Coast is simply stunning, crossing the River Tamar from England lifts the spirit and you know you are in a special place. Porthtowan is a hidden gem of a beach, though its place in the development of surfing in the UK has increased its popularity. With over a mile of sand you will always have plenty of space even in highest summer.

We dreamed of a home with a sea view and Beach House has just that. No driving to the car park, just walk down and back at your leisure. Of course Cornwall has many other attractions and Porthtowan is centrally located for most of them.

Lovely holiday home in an amazing location

  • 5 of 5

We all enjoyed a fantastic week in this gorgeous property! Obviously a lot of time, effort and money has been spent with top quality rooms, furnishings and just about everything else!

It is in just the most amazing position, with stunning views over Porthtowan bay.

You do get used to the steps! And it is great to be able to walk to the beach, surf/board and then just walk back again and use the outside shower!

The upper garden and fire pit are the icing on the cake. If the weather is good and you have a nice glass of wine, just enjoy a stunning evening watching the sun setting. A special holiday indeed.

Many thanks Mark for lettting us share your very special holiday home.

A fantastic week!

  • 5 of 5

The Beach House is a stunningly appointed spacious property, perched on the hill side, a stones throw from Porthtowan Beach. It's reached by a few steps, but they are quite shallow and therefore easy to climb.

The wide decking area in front of the house is equipped with a large outdoor table and chairs and offers a great view of the beach. It's a great place to have a BBQ and sit and relax with a drink. It's well fenced making it very child friendly too.

The house itself is spotlessly clean, airy and spacious, with modern bathrooms and good showers. Beds were comfortable and we slept like babies with the sound of the waves from the beach. The kitchen is very well equipped and we wanted for nothing during our stay.

There is a grass area and a fantastic secluded fire pit behind the house that offers even more space.

There is a well stocked local shop, a fish and chip shop and cafes/pubs/bars nearby on the beach.

The owners comprehensive A-Z guide for the property was great, and lists recommendations for places to eat/go as well as any instructions you may need for the property.

We had a fantastic week, we popped into the Blue Bar (which was great) a couple of times, and walked miles of the coast path which is 100m away from your front door.

Birthday celebrations

  • 5 of 5

Booked Beach House 6 months ago so we could share time and good company with family and friends while celebrating my wife's 60th birthday. It met all expectations and all communication with Mark, the owner was helpful from day one. Great location with terrific views, well appointed, functional social areas for a big group, with separate good bedroom areas too if you wanted your own space. It was warm even when we didn't light the excellent wood burner. We enjoyed some great walks on the beach and cliffs to east and west. Nearby pub, local shop and beach bar very friendly. Fascinating local industrial/mining history. Surf great all week. Lots of steps up to the property help you keep fit!

Best Family Christmas

  • 5 of 5

Had our first family Christmas here altogether 9 adults, 3 children and 2 dogs, was worried it might be a bit overcrowded but it was definitely not - it was perfect. The house is beautiful and spacious even had a real tree there for us. A big dining table that fitted us all around and had all the cutlery and cooking utensils needed to make a beautiful xmas dinner and in the evening the big corner sofa had enough space for us all to sit around together.

The area is lovely with a beautiful beach, pub and playground close by although due to cold weather could not make the most of it.

All queries I had were answered quickly and had excellent communication with the owner Mark - thank you. Definitely be booking to come back in the summer.

great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic well equipped house ,with fantastic views. Never felt on top of one another. Top Garden has a great seating area with a fantastic fire pit.

The only negative is there are 73 steps up to the property and as we were a bunch of oldies, some found this a bit of a problem.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We have just had a wonderful week staying at this beautiful beach house. It really does feel like a home from home accommodation.

We went to celebrate my husbands birthday with our three daughters and their partners my granddaughter and the dogs.

The location is superb so close to so many beautiful beaches, sitting on the terrace looking on to Porthtowan beach watching the surfers is great, and we have seen some of the most amazing sunsets, the unicorn pub and the blue bar are so close and very friendly.

There are a lot of steps up to the house which at first we thought might be a problem but you soon get used to them and worth every step for the wonderful views.

The only down side is we only went for one week could of stayed much longer
