Villa in Manta Rota, Eastern Algarve - Peaceful situation, 10 minutes walk to spectacular beach and Rio Formosa

Manta Rota is a small village located between Tavira and Monte Gordo. It has a nice main street with cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. It is a small village and good for families. Altura is known for its beautiful beaches. If you are looking for some culture the city of Tavira is only 15 minutes away, Seville is 160km (2hrs). Faro Airport is 40km (35mins) away.

About Peter

We live in Dublin and love the quiet simplicity of life in Manta Rota.

We love walks on the beach, cycling to Cacela Velha, Fuseta or Tavira and have friends and family stay for a good barbecue.

The restaurants are all within walking distance with excellent sea food caught locally that day.

Take a boat trip out to the island off Tavira or up the Guadiana river that separates Portugal and Spain.

Seville is just 2 hours away.

Why Peter chose Vila Nova de Cacela

We looked far and wide in the Algarve before settling on this villa in Manta Rota in 2007.

We like the fact that we can walk to the supermarket, bakery, newsagent, cafes, restaurants, and don't have to worry about driving unless we want to go to Seville for the day or up into the hills to Alcoutim or further into the national parks.

What makes this villa unique

Its a unique property which offers village life but with complete seclusion and complete south facing aspect which ensures sun from dawn to dusk at ground to roof terrace levels with sea views.

Notes on accommodation: Through the hallway with toilet/shower room you come into the living room with a separate classic dining room with large table seating 8-10 people. Also there is a separate library/office room attached to the living room with armchairs and settee. The living room is spacious with two large comfortable leather sofa's, a fireplace/stove and there is air-conditioning throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped and very luxurious. Upstairs there are four bedrooms. The master bedroom(ensuite) opens onto the middle terrace with views onto the dunes.The other 3 bedrooms open onto a large rear terrace. There is a roof terrace also for evening sunshine. There is large bedroom (ensuite) off the lower terrace beside the pool with private access. It has a large walk in shower. There is a large pool and separate BBQ terrace at the rear. The covered deck area with teak table and chairs is nice place to have dinner at night. There is ample space to enjoy the sun on the sun loungers and deckchairs. Outside: 15m private pool. Built barbecue at rear with own terrace, tables and chairs. 4 sunloungers, 8 deckchairs, sunchairs on upper terrace. Large private garden with mature planting and fruit trees. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towel and linen change 1 a week - pool maintenance 1 a week - water, gas and electricity (between November and March the electricity may not be included) Other: Covered ground floor verandahs front and rear.

Great Holiday

Had a wonderful holiday with all our immediate family. They all loved the villa and especially the pool. We made full use of it in the really hot weather! Manta Rota is a lovely village, the family loved the beach and the various restaurants plus the entertainment and rides in the evenings.

Lovely villa with enclosed garden

A very homely villa with lovely garden and pool. Spacious patio area overlooking the pool where we enjoyed our evening meals. Manta Rota has a beautiful long beach which is at the end of the village and there are plenty restaurants with a particularly tasty one on the boardwalk to the beach. We enjoyed the villa and location and would recommend.

Fabulous spacious villa in a private secluded area of a sleepy Portugese seaside village.Was within walking distance of a stunning beach and good variety of reasonably priced restaurants.All very child friendly.

Pool super at villa and plenty of activities for all ages within a relatively short car ride.Kayaking in Cabanas and the zip wire in Alcoutim were a big hit with us.

We had a super holiday and would recommend this villa to any family/group.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in September. The villa is located in a small cul de sac and is surrounded by lovely gardens and large pool. We had wonderful sunny weather. We ate locally most nights, had a few barbrcues and travelled to Nearby Cabanas. The beach is long and great for walking, there was quite high waves.

All in all lovely.

Great Villa shame about the noise!

This is a great villa pool and gardens, the pictures do not do it justice but all this spoilt by tremendous unexplained noise in/on the roof at night keeping everyone awake and worried!

I did mention the noise to the agents on our return to the UK but have not heard what the issue was.

Unfortunately not 10minutes walk to the beach either - more like 20 minutes.

No information pack at the property about doctors, taxi, or places to visit etc. Instructions on how to use the appliances and especially the shutters would have been a great help.
