The Coach House in Kexby, near York, England - Kexby is situated 5 miles from York and its many attractions. Sleeps 3-5 (1 Bedroom)

The Coach House is a detached property which has one very large master bedroom with a king size bed and further single bed. The luxury bathroom is accessed via the master bedroom and comprises of bath, wc, basin and separate shower cubicle. Downstairs is a large modern lounge with a double sofa bed and wall mounted flat screen tv/dvd. The modern dining kitchen is fully equipped and includes oven, hob, washing machine and fridge freezer. There is also a further downstairs wc off the main entrance hallway. Outside there is ample parking together with picnic/bbq area.

About the Owner

Mark and Tracy Shillito have lived in York for many years. They moved to Kexby 9 years ago with their three children. Living in Kexby has allowed them to indulge their hobbies such as gardening, cycling, running as well as property renovation. The Coach House has been converted from outbuildings into a beautiful detached dwelling sitting adjacent to the family's home. Living next door they are on hand to advise on local amenities and attractions and ensure that you have an enjoyable stay.

The Coach House is beautiful accommodation, the best we have been lucky enough to stay in and we would like to thank the owners for all their help and hospitality during our stay.



We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Coach House and would like to thank the owners for their kindness during our stay. They were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive.



We arrived at the Coach House on a cold windy night at the end of November but inside it was warm, cosy and comfortable and equipped with everything we needed for our 4 night stay. The house is peacefully situated a few miles from the centre of York and is very convenient for the city and its surrounding area as well as within reach of the East coast in under an hour. Tracy and Mark are just next door to answer any questions and give directions to eating places although after long days out we were content to stay in and watch TV or one of the DVDs provided. Many thanks, we hope to see you again.

A home away from home

We stayed at many wonderful places during our trip to the U.K., but somehow felt most at home at the Coach House. The two-story cottage is light-filled (we loved the skylights upstairs) and completely equipped. The cottage is a brief car ride to York, or, even closer, to a shuttle bus to the center of the city, which we took advantage of each day. The owners were truly welcoming and friendly. Their house is next door and we chatted when we met them in the driveway, but otherwise we had complete privacy. The cottage is off a secondary road bordered by farmland, We would wholeheartedly recommend the Coach House.

Lovely place very kind owners

Tracy and mark saved the day for us when another property owner gave our holiday period to someone else the night before we were due to arrive. Tracy was very kind and responded immediately to my email and we spent a lovely 5 days in a clean well maintained cottage in a great location. Tracy was on hand to give us directions. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

Superb cottage!

A beautful, well maintained, modern cottage in close proximity to York centre. Super friendly owners and this place met all of our needs to relax and unwind after busy days out with a baby! Can not recommend it enough. We will be back!

The coach house

We have just spent a week at the Coach House.It was amazing.So peaceful and yet very close to York.The park and ride is excellent.Tracey and Mark (the owners) are really lovely.Really enjoyed our stay at this gem of a place.We will book again for sure.

From the Owner

We moved to Kexby as it is situated in the countryside and we were keen to live in more rural surroundings, but is still very close to York (5 miles) for work and school. Our property is in a quiet setting without being remote whilst at the same time has very easy access to local amenities.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

York is ideally located to visit east coast attractions such as Scarborough and Bridlington. The North Yorkshire moors are within easy reach as well as nearby town such as Leeds and Harrogate both of which have excellent shopping facilities.

Travel:

Leeds Bradford airport is situated approximately 45 minutes away and Manchester airport is approximately 90 minutes away. York Railway Station is 5 miles away in the centre of town. It is recommended that guests have their own car.

Distances:

Leeds approximately 25 miles away. East coast (Scarborough & Bridlington approximately 40 miles away.

Further Details:

The nearest village with pubs, fish and chip shop, supermarket, post office, newsagents, pharmacy and butchers is Dunnington which is approximately 1 mile away (less than 5 minutes by car). Dunnington also has a large newly refurbished childrens play park. The nearest park and ride is 2.5 miles away on route into York centre. Further shopping can be found at Monks Cross (approx 10 minutes drive) and MacArthur Glen Designer Outlet (approx 10 minutes drive).

Booking Notes:
At the time of booking we would ask that you pay a 25% non returnable deposit. The balance of the rental is payable four weeks prior to arrival. Cancellations made within four weeks of arrival will not be refunded unless we can re-let the property for the same dates. The Coach House is fully non-smoking and we do not accommodate pets. On arrival we ask that our guests leave a refundable £30.00 key deposit which will be returned to them on return of the Coach House key on departure.

Changeover Day:
Saturday is our preferred changeover day, but out of season this can be flexible. Arrival at the property is after 2.30pm and the property should be vacated on the day of departure by 10 am.

There are several villages nearby which have good pubs/restaurants and other local amenities so everything required for an enjoyable holiday is close to hand. The Coach House has wi-fi.

  • Outside: The Coach House shares a large lawned front garden with the owners. A picnic table and bbq are provided. The Coach House also has its own parking space within the grounds which is well lit during the evening. Utility Room: Iron and ironing board provided with some cleaning equipment found under the sink. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned after each guest. Fresh bed linen and towels are provided for your stay.
