Alcossebre is situated on the east coast of Spain, between Valencia and Barcelona on Spains orange blossom coast. This picturesque area known as ‘costa del Azahar’ has magnificient sandy beaches and unspoilt mountain scenery. Alcossebre is a beautiful seaside town surrounded by orange and almond groves. The apartment is on the third floor in a secure friendly complex of 10, mainly Spanish owned apartments with a shared pool and garden. It is situated 5 minutes walk from the beautiful playa romana blue flag beach, local spar shop and a few bar restaurants. From the local beach a wooden promenade provides a pleasant 15 minute sea front walk into the town both day and night. The harbour with bars, restaurants and boats is a further 10 minute walk (alternatively there is ample parking in the town and the harbour). The town and harbour have a great atmosphere with families, couples and youngsters enjoying the restaurants, bars, ice-cream parlours and promenade walks until the early hours.

From the Owner

I purchased the property 14 years ago. We fell in love with the area with its beautiful coastline and stricking National Park mountain range providing a dramatic backdrop to the town. Building restrictions have prevented the build of high rise apartments which dominate much of the spanish coastline and there has been much investment in the natrually occuring sand dunes which fringe the beaches. The beaches are fantastic, with plenty of actvities including sports nets, pedalos and rock pools to explore. Alternatively, due to the many sweeping stretches of beach in the area you can always find a more secluded spot.

There are five beaches in Alcossebre. All beaches are blue flag and most offer sunbeds, water sports, volley ball, childrens play area, football/rugby goals, and a life-guard service in season. A wooden promenade which meanders through the sand dunes joins two local beaches. The nearest beach playa Romana (5 min walk) is a large cove long with soft white sand and shallow waters, and in high season is raked each night. The beach is popular with families and people of all ages.


Castellon airport in the new local airport and Ryanair fly there and this is 15 miles from the apartment. Reus and Valencia airports are both around 75 mins motorway (A7) drive. A car may be beneficial to enjoy the scenic area of Spain and numerous car rental firms are based at all airports. Budget airlines such as Ryanair, easyjet and Jet2 all provide regular flights to all airports.


Alcossebre old Church-Based on top of the mountain, overlooking the town, a must see.

Alcala 12km- (train station) small local market town

Peniscola 20km – large seaside town built around a historic castle. Great restaurants within the small windy streets.

Benicassism 30km- Water world park.

Castellon 40 km- nearest city.

Port Aventura theme park-140km.

Further Details:

There are plenty of banks with cash points, Tapas bars (one where you can sit under grape vines), Medical Centre with an English speaking doctor. Plenty of Shops and supermarkets, also there are many superb restaurants.

With access to a car there are some great places to visit. To the north you will find the picturesque towns of Benicarlo, Peniscola, and Vinaros. To the south you have Benicassim which has a large Waterworld Park and Castellon which is excellent for shopping. Peniscola is a beautiful town built around a castle and full of history; they filmed 'El Cid' there amongst the castle walls and on the white beaches. Vinaros is renowned for its seafood dishes and in February they have a carnival which is on a par with 'Mardi Gras' in Rio, really well worth a visit at that time of year. A 45 minute drive north is Port Aventura (http://www.portaventura.es) which has a full sized Universal Theme Park.

The area has a wonderfully relaxed feel to it, were spanish family culture can be observed and embraced. There is a pleasant evening coastal stroll into the town to indulge in people watching, great seafood and tapas and have a promenade stroll with ice-cream. There is a tennis club near by and miles of coastal and countryside paths to explore by foot or bike. The large balcony is good for nights in when the children (and adults!) are too tired to venture out following a fun packed (or relaxing) day on the beach, by the pool or exploring the local area and attractions.

  • Description of sleeping capacity: Sleeps 4/6 (2 Bedrooms + Sofabed) Notes on bedrooms: The apartment has 2 bedrooms, the main has a king size bed and doors which open onto the balcony, and a ceiling fan. The second bedroom has large bunk beds and has a sink. There is a double sofa bed in the living room and a cot is available if required.

  • Notes on accommodation: Electric heater can be accessed out of season. Outside: The apartment has a balcony which stretches it's length and can be accessed through double-doors from both the living area and main bedroom. The sun rises in view of the balcony and has full sun in the morning through until mid afternoon. There is a wind down sun canopy, patio table and six chairs, and a handy washing line. Outside there is a shared attractive well maintained garden with many plants and palm trees providing some areas of natrual shade. The pool is situated in the garden and is approximately 15 meters long, with depth starting at approximately 1 meter increasing to 1.8 meters. The pool is maintained regularly in season and you will often be the only people using this area. There is a garage with two adult bikes that are great for coastal and mountain cycle rides. There are some kids beach toys and a gas bbq is also available. The garage can be used to park your car and is a handy store for prams, beach accessories. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The apartment is cleaned and supplied with laundry and beds are made up before arrival. Bath and hand towels are provided (please note beach towels are not provided). A broom and mop bucket are provided for occupants use.
