About the property

FR8836

Les Bernots is a tiny hamlet in the Department d'Aude, Languedoc Roussillon, deep in rural south-western France. A short drive from Carcassonne and ideally located for year-round holidays, with winter ski resorts and a summer Mediterranean climate. Our four beautiful gites in Les Bernots have been extensively refurbished to bring them up to modern standards whilst retaining the original features wherever possible, some of which are reputed to date back to Roman times.

Tired, and needing TLC.

  • 2 of 5

The situation of this Gite is in a quiet valley in a beautiful region of France. We looked forward to staying at this Gite as the online pictures made it look quite comfortable. Whilst the region doesn't disappoint, unfortunately we had a few issues with the accommodation. Whilst there had clearly been effort renovating the property to a good standard, a lack of maintenance has left it very tired and in need of attention. Leaking shower through the floor into the kitchen, shower doors broken, broken utensils, lights not working, lack of attention to detail, took the shine of what could have been an enjoyable stay.

In sum, unless some remedial work was carried out, we would not recommend this Gite.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry you feel this way about our property. We have had people staying there for 6 months previous to your arrival & didn't have any complaints, however I have taken on board your comments & am going out there myself this month to ensure everything is up to a high standard. The shower is being looked into as we speak thank you for bringing that to my attention, I can only apologise. As for the lights, they just tripped whilst you were there, and unfortunately these things happen. Thank you for your feedback.

Excellent Gite

  • 4 of 5

Perfect Gite! Very well equipped, great space and wonderful views from a small but very private and secluded terrace.

We had a lovely holiday touring local attractions and in particular walking with spectacular views in the foot hills. Great area for wine and great markets close by. If you want to get away from it all this is the place to go!
