About the property

Spacious 2-bedroom contemporary barn conversiokn near Hawkley in the South Downs National Park. Peaceful setting with views of fields and steep wooded hills, swimming pool

The Woodshed at Home Farm offers 4 star holiday accommodation in a stylishly converted steel-framed barn, set in 10 hectares of natural pasture and woodland. Situated on high ground, it has sweeping views of East Hampshire’s beautiful wooded hills (The Hangers), within the South Downs National Park. Rooms are contemporary, comfortable and carefully designed. Through the wide glazed doors of the large kitchen/living room you can spot wildlife and step out into your own flower meadow, enjoy the pastoral setting, or take a dip in the pool. A solar heating system provides hot water and a woodburning stove gives warmth, with logs supplied from our woodland. From conception to completion the Woodshed was made as sustainable as possible - awarded 'Gold' by the GTBS, it is well insulated, roof included. The Woodshed is in an ideal location between London and the south coast and the local area is packed with interest. We welcome all visitors and can provide for families with young children, cyclists and walkers.

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We have just come back from an absolutely wonderful few days at the woodshed. We have stayed in a lot of different places in the UK but his place was one of the best. Really relaxing, even with a toddler in tow. Beautiful place and surroundings. The pool was lovely too! Our son really enjoyed just playing in and around the house. Richard and Lou were very welcoming. We will be back!

We needed to get out of London and go somewhere close (we live in SW) to recharge and relax. It was wonderful! The location is peaceful and beautiful. The woodshed is warm and comfortable. Our 4 year old son loved the swing and the oak tree and the tractors in the barn next door. The food at the local pub (a 30 min walk away) was very good. What a find, we'll be back.

Inspiring, beautiful, restful and a delight

  • 5 of 5

I received a very warm welcome from both Richard and Lou and the property was so much more than I expected. The pictures really do not do it enough justice, just as the other reviewer said. It is spotlessly clean, the view makes you smile and feel peaceful all at the same time and the shear delight of staying in such a smart, cosy, eco property just makes it even more rewarding. I was truly inspired by my stay and intend to visit again in the spring. On a practical note, the furnishings are comfortable and the bed equally so, there's everything you need to enjoy a great break or holiday and the owners are on hand if you want any help or advice on where to go and what to do. I just thoroughly enjoyed walking through so much woodland, listening to the birds and seeing my dog get extremely excited about the pheasants, deer, owl and anything else that moved from the fantastic view we had in the barn.

The pictures do not do it justice

Clean, secluded and very comfortable. This property has everything you need to enjoy a very restful stay with beautiful scenery. We have stayed Dec 13 and Dec 14 accompanied by friends and enjoyed the Christmas markets in Winchester and the restaurants in nearby Petersfield. This is one of our most favourite places to stay and look forward to returning year after year. We have yet to stay during the summer to enjoy more of the surrounding walks and maybe have a dip in the pool.
