Zen House ! A Haven Of Peace, Love Weekend, Or Stay For A Week!

Overview

Property

Updated: 03-Dec-2016
House in Montauroux, Fayence Area, Var, Provence Alpes Cote D'Azur, France - peaceful Location, Yet 5 Minute Walk To The Beautiful Village

Zen like house (90m2) fully equipped. We have a private pool in the large garden. Also beautiful terrace to enjoy the views of the valley and the village of Caillan which has a Castle and Church.

The house is very secluded on a rural laneway , if hiring a car watch out that you dont have a low sporty type .

Montauroux is one of several similarly attractive medieval hill villages set on a ridge of hills only 30 minutes away from the famous resorts and beaches. As well as local shops, cafés and restaurants in the village there are lots of others in the area and in the neighbouring villages of Fayence, Seillan and Callian and most of these have wonderful weekly provençal markets. An unusual facility nearby is the St Cassien lake – only 2,5km from the property – which has sandy bays for sunbathing and swimming and water activities which can be hired including canoes, pedalos and sailing boats.

The 2 bedroom family home is extremely well equipped.

It is set in its own grounds, private parking and has a pool with 4 sunlougers (the size: width: 3m. Length: 5m Depth 1m50.), and Wifi.

The kitchen/living area/dining area is open plan - the kitchen is extremely well equipped with

fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, microwave, hob, kettle, etc.

The dining area has seating for 4 people. The living area comprises a fireplace, coffee table and 3

seater sofa and TV.

The living / TV areas open out onto a large patio area via French doors comprising a wonderful 6 seater table around an old tree with spectacular views over the valley.

Beside that is a 4 seater sitting area with comfortable chairs and a glass top table, and a BBQ.

The sleeping area is off the front door hallway. Bedroom 1 comprises a double bed with a wardrobe. Bedroom 2 comprises of twin beds with a wardrobe. There is also a pullout bed in the living area so 5 people could stay.

There is a bathroom with shower, and a separate WC.

The holiday we had was superb! Truly a zen paradise! The best holiday we have had in France in the 27 years we have been going.

The accommodation was superb with the eclectic furnishings it made the stay feel very special! We would love to come back another year. Francoise was very friendly! from Dylan July 2014

Everything was absolutely great in Montauraux and the house exceeded our expectation. What a beautiful setting, wonderful views and peaceful evenings on the terrace! We could not wish for more!

Both Francoise and Pierre are lovely people and we enjoyed our stay very much. The equipment of the house and the kitchen was incredible, we did not miss anything there.

And we will consider going there the next year again!

Thank you for organising it for us, we spent a beautiful week in South France.

This house is gorgeous. Thank you for your help. The website really does not do justice to the views and general loveliness.

If heaven were a little hide away retreat this is it!!

If you are looking to escape it all and still be able to walk into town this is the ideal property, beautifully furnished, amazing views and best of all completely private. Montauroux is an amazing place with beautiful views. Would definitely recommend this property.

Beautiful and tranquil

  • 5 of 5

The villa is in a beautiful setting and has all the amenities we as a family of four could want. It's access to the village is simple and takes about 7-10 minutes depending on how much wine you had the night before. Yes there is a track down and yes it is bumpy but the average hire car Peugeot we had didn't have any issue with it.

If you want a quiet relaxing time in a quintessentially French village this property will suit you. There are steps up to the village from the villa just so you know - didn't bother us though.

Francoise is a lovely lady to deal with - everything was very simple.

Nice views, quiet location

  • 1 of 5

Very friendly owner, nice views and quiet location. Very rough road down to the property so not suitable for low profile cars ( unfortunately ours was damaged through going down the track, with a hefty bill to pay!). Also for people with walking difficulties, if you want to walk in to town this can be difficult as its all uphill and uneven road. I found the property not to be at a standard I would expect for the money charged. It is in need of a lot of maintenance and a good clean. I was very disappointed to have to pay a cleaning fee, especially when I had to clean everything myself before use! There are also a few dangerous areas like the shower where I cut my foot open as there was no trap In the floor, just a rough metal hole. There are a lot of the owners possessions in the house and not a lot of room to put your own things i.e food cupboard space etc. I also think if you have small children or in my case a small dog you need to be very careful of the steep drops in the garden. Overall we enjoyed the town and the area but the house was disappointing. With a bit of TLC and some warning on the advert about the road down to the property being unsuitable for certain vehicles and those with walking difficulties this could be a great holiday home.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments as it's important to maintain the standard of the property. We have rented this property for 5 years and it's the such first review . The road I am afraid is not private and the local council needs to maintain it. We are going to request that maintenance work be carried out , we will point out on site that the access could be difficult for low cars. We will address all other points regarding the interiors and cleaning . I would like further potential clients to feel confidence in renting our Zen House so thank you again for your feedback.

Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

This is an absolutely fabulous property, even nicer than in the photos. The property is down a track off the road making it very secluded and private. It is nestled in the hillside with great views over the valley. The villa was extremely clean and well maintained as well as the outside with various seating areas so you can choose whether to be in the sun or shade. It is less than 10 minutes walk to the centre of the village where there are some nice bars and restaurants.

There is a large lake (St. Cassien) nearby where you can swim and hire pedaloes which is well worth a visit. The villa is also within easy reach of Cannes and Monaco.

The only negative we would have about the villa is that it wouldn't be very suitable for young children as there are lots of expensive ornaments around the rooms.
