About Mr Keith John McKeown

We are a married couple for 30 years In our fifties.

We have four children all grown up.

And invested time in finding a cottage to renovate.

We spent 3 months to complete the work & we maintain the cottage to as close as the day we finished so every booking has the same quality of stay and the cottage always has the advertised standerd.

Mr Keith John McKeown purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Mr Keith John McKeown chose Suffolk

Hope cottage is in an area we always travel to when we have time the area has so much to do and everyone who has stayed have found something for them.

We feel in love with the cottage built in the 1600 which gives it a lovely warm cottage and feels cosy.

Our renovation is modern with all you need but retaining the open fire cottage windows it maintains its history.

What makes this cottage unique

New for Spring 2017 We are providing our guests with a Summer House.

Pre dinner drinks or Dinning in enjoy the longer days sitting relaxing in comfy chairs (not the ones in the photo as they had not been delivered in time). As the sun goes down candle light gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy the warmer evenings.

Lovely cottage well placed for adventures in Suffolk.

  • 5 of 5

Before we even got to the cottage, the owner communicated all we needed to know to us and left us feeling assured that all would be ready and in place for our arrival. He did not disappoint.

The cottage itself is beautiful. We loved the fact that it was spacious enough to not feel cramped and small enough to be perfectly cosy.

The cottage is well equipped and had more than we expected on offer. The huge bath was much appreciated as was the lovely garden to help relax us.

There's a lot of hope in hope cottage and we left feeling rested and 'hope'ful of a return at some stage.

Bravo! Top notch accommodation.

Well thought out home with good amenities. Local pubs are worth a short walk. Highly recommend local Ufford Crown for food and wine list.

A wonderful two night stay

  • 5 of 5

Hope Cottage is a small, cosy and charming country cottage with everything a couple would need for a short break in the country.

The owners have gone to considerable effort to provide a lovely holiday home and I highly recommend it. The bathroom is huge and fitted to a high spec.

It's a pity that there is no parking outside, other than for loading/offloading, but its a minor inconvenience and there is ample space in a car park just a minutes walk across the road.

Unless we were looking in the wrong place the village itself was little more than a pub, but we were just minutes away from the main A roads, so the location was perfect to explore Suffolk. We recommend visiting Sutton Hoo, Southwold and Ickfield House in nearby Bury St Edmonds.

I exchanged emails with the owner on several occasions during the booking process and I'd like to thank Keith for responding so quickly and helpfully on each occasion.

We had a wonderful time and I wish the owners every success, they've gone to a lot of trouble to provide a really nice place to stay.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest Firstly we would like to thank you for taking the trouble to right the review. We are greatful that the parking does not put people off staying and it has worked well for the past five years. The cottage is located well for visiting lots of interesting place no moret than 30 minutes drive including Snape,Aldeburgh,Southwold, The Ufford Crown Pub/Resturant is a real find only a few doors away however unfortunately you have missed the local pub The White Lion which is situated behind Hope Cottage a short 15 minute walk, the local Church and the rest of the village can be found on the way. We are in the process of replacing the old unusable Summer House with a new one arriving Friday, we are hoping our guests will enjoy this either for an evening drink or meal. This will form part of the planned renovations of the rear enclosed garden in 2016. Thank you again.Chris & Keith

Lovely find

  • 5 of 5

Booked this at short notice to attend family funeral in the area. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our few nights stay. Comfortable bed and lovely and warm in the cottage, fabulous bathroom. Convenient for shops, only 5-10 minutes away. Would recommend it to friends. Parking close by across the road. A credit to Keith and Chris who had thought of everything. Thank you for the use of your lovely cottage.
