Outside: The cottage is set in the grounds of the owners house. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped garden with stream running nearby. The area around the cottage is for the use of guests but this is not separate from the owner's garden, which you are also welcome to share - join us for a drink in the evening sunshine! Garden table and chairs outside french windows to living room. The garden is not secure, we advise that dogs are attached to the ground spike and tie-out cable provided. If confident that they won't stray into neighbouring fields, we are also happy for them to run free and play with our own dogs who are always friendly and inquisitive when visiting dogs come to stay! Our 2 inquisitive peacocks often seen wandering in the garden and are always keen to be thrown bread:) Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen provided.

Beautifully presented cottage in a great location

We echo all the other reviews. Lovely cottage, lovely people, lovely location.

Made to feel very welcome with a complementary bottle of wine, milk (which we had forgotten...) and biscuits 🍪.

Thank you!

Wonderful cottage, in an ideal location to explore this beautiful part of the country.

Trish and Phil ( and Bella) gave us such warm welcome with a generous welcome pack.

There is little to add as our stay was just wonderful.

Thank you

Cosy and Charming Cottage in quiet rural surroundings - a wonderful place to unwind

  • 5 of 5

Our trip to Devon/Dorset was the precursor to a major milestone birthday and the cottage fully met our needs. Cosy, quiet, clean and fully equipped. The bedroom was delightful as was the bathroom - which was beautifully decorated. Our hosts were very friendly and the treats such as the bubbly nicely chilled in the fridge were very much appreciated. The pet peacocks were a surprise especially the male, very resplendent in his full feathered glory! We also enjoyed getting up close to cows, sheep with cute lambs, Shetland ponies and donkeys on our way across the fields to the local hostelry for some great ale and basic but good pub food. The cottage is a good central location for various trips. A "must do" is a walk up Golden Cap - well worth the climb. Various National Trust properties are also close such as Montacute House - very interesting and worth a visit. For foodies, we'd recommend dinner at the Riverside Cottage Kitchen in Axminster. So in conclusion a very enjoyable and successful mini break with the cottage being a great contributor as a welcoming base.

Perfect cottage for a relaxing escape!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our recent stay at Trish and Phil's cottage. They are very warm, welcoming hosts who give the perfect balance of friendliness and privacy. The cottage was very clean, tidy and well equipped with some little treats left for us on arrival! A lovely touch and just what you need after a journey. The view out of the cottage is beautiful and there is a very impressive roaming peacock to marvel at. Trish sent us very useful directions which were easy to follow. We would recommend: climbing Golden Cap, visiting Abbotsbury, especially the Swannery and St Catherine's Chapel, and visiting Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary. Overall we had a wonderful trip celebrating a birthday and wouldn't have changed a thing.

Summerleaze Cottage a peaceful and beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

We have had a very enjoyable weeks holiday, the cottage was perfect and had everything

we needed, the friendly owners live nearby and were very discrete but were always available if we wanted any advice etc... lovely views from the cottage and lots of wildlife to see in the gardens i.e - Peacocks, squirrels etc... An ideal base to explore the surrounding countryside.
