About the property

Private Heated Pool, Ferry Discount, FREE Wifi, Thurs Changeover, Games Barn

Situated in a quiet rural hamlet within beautiful Northern Brittany, we are only minutes away from the two towns of Plouguenast and Ploeuc sur Lie, each with a variety of shops and restaurants, and 10 minutes from the medieval town of Moncontour. Ploeuc Sur Lie has a market every Thursday.

The ferry ports of St Malo (1 hr), Roscoff (90 mins) and Caen are within easy reach, as is the airport at Dinard, 40 minutes away, served by Ryanair from Stanstead. Flybe come into Rennes, which is about an hour away, from Southend.

Ferry discounts with Brittany Ferries are available - please contact us for details.

Convenient arrival and departure days can be organised to suit our guests most of the year but for the months of July and August changeover day is Thursday. This enables our guests to take advantage of cheaper fares and less traffic on the roads than a Saturday changeover.

On site are Laurel Cottage (sleeping 6/7 + cot), the owners own property and Fuchsia Cottage (sleeping 4 + cot). There is a 10mtr x 5mtr fully enclosed, heated, outdoor swimming pool and a games barn consisting of a table tennis table, Bebe foot table and pool table downstairs with a full size snooker table (over 16's only) upstairs. There are plenty of toys and ride on toys for our younger guests.

Also on site is a Pottery, Arts and Crafts studio where you can join in and have fun with some of the many crafts or purchase original pieces to take home with you. As well as hand built pottery you can try your hand at jewellery making, acrylic abstracts, fused glass techniques, card making, scrapbooking (digital and by hand), serviette craft, patchwork, rug making, crochet, knitting and glass painting.

We have many beautiful beaches and towns within easy driving distance. The championship 18 hole golf course at Val Andre is only 40 minutes drive as well as a couple of nearer 9 hole golf courses. We also have an equestrian centre in Loudeac, just fifteen minutes away, and canoe rental in Plouguenast which is just five minutes away.

If you fancy bike riding then there is bike hire at several venues and there is water sports equipment for hire in several places, Lake Guerledan and Erquy to name just two.

About Gillian Cossins

We have been married for thirty six years and have lived the last sixteen years in Brittany. Martin commutes to England once a month for work and Gill lives in Brittany full time. We have three children, Samantha, Lee and Kieran and three grandchildren, Ethan, Kiera and Freya...all of whom live in England, but love to visit Brittany as often as possible. We love where we live and have many interests and friends. Food plays a big part of life in France and we enjoy entertaining and having fun.

Gillian Cossins purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Gillian Cossins chose Loudeac area

Gill and Martin moved to this most beautiful part of Brittany from England in 2001, having lived in Essex for the previous 25 years. They took over the property in Cornean with its two existing gites and have enjoyed the company of a stream of varied and interesting people holidaying with them for the past sixteen years. Many of these visitors, they are delighted to say, visit them year after year and have become good friends. The swimming pool and gardens were a huge bonus and when the barn next door came up for sale it added to their dream of having a pottery and craft studio on site as well. Gill teaches regular pottery and craft classes each week, to which guests are more than welcome to join in. Their dream was further realised when they added a little hobby farm for rescued animals.

What makes this cottage unique

Our property is very central and as such it is no problem to get to a great variety of interesting places, beaches, golf courses, shops and restaurants.

On site you can enjoy the heated outdoor swimming pool and the games barn with bebefoot, table tennis, pool and a full size snooker table.

Both cottages are equipped with satellite television, hairdryers and irons and have access to washing machine and ironing facilities. We also provide free Wifi access.

Cots and high chairs can be provided also free of charge.

A linen service is available at a cost of £5.00 per person, per week. Two course, Evening meals can be prepared and left in your cottage by prior arrangement at a cost of 15.00 Euros per head. A chauffeur and baby sitting service is available if you would like to have a nice adult night out on your own.

great gite and great facilities!

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely gite and you will not be disappointed with a stay here. It far exceeded our expectations and the pictures don't do it justice. Laurel cottage is spacious, clean and a really comfortable home from home. There was nothing you could want for - a huge amount of cooking utensils (often missing in a holiday home) plenty of fresh towels. The owners live next door and went out of their way to make sure all our needs were met - offering advice on days out, restaurants, parking and handy pointers throughout our stay (very friendly but not intrusive). Facilities at the gite were excellent including a heated outdoor pool plus a spacious indoor games room with snooker and table tennis - the kids loved it. The on-site pottery barn/art studio was the highlight of our stay - we were able to have a private pottery/art class - fantastic. Big thanks to the owners Gill and Martin who have put every effort into running this truly wonderful gite - it shows. Excellent value for money.

Excellent Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent holiday, the accommodation was good and had all the amenities we needed. A quiet and peaceful location with a lovely swimming pool. The owners are very friendly and cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxed holiday in a rural position. We were a group of six adults and one child. All thoroughly enjoyed the holiday.
