Overview

Property

Updated: 03-Dec-2016
Villa in Cailhau, Nr. Carcassonne, Aude, Languedoc-Roussillon, France - Peaceful Location, 5 Mins From All Amenities

Las Peiras is a beautiful palazzo style 4 bedroom villa, south facing and set in vineyards with views over the Pyrenees. The house has large private gardens, a large swimming pool (10x5) and numerous terraced and courtyard areas for outdoor dining and relaxation. It is situated in a secluded location on the edge of the delightful circular village of Cailhau, surrounded by vineyards selling local wine. A bistro/bar/shop in the village sells fresh bread etc and Belveze du Razes, less than 4km away, has all amenities, including a supermarket, boulangerie, bar and restaurant. The villa is less than 20 mins away from Carcassonne, Limoux and the lovely medieval market town of Mirepoix. The Mediterranean, Cathar chateaux and ski slopes are easily accessible(1 hour).

Light spacious villa with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with two other couples and the villa was perfect for us - we loved that the bedrooms are all large with en suites (and two with private terraces), so that we each had our own space but also could come together in the large communal areas (inside and out). Other pros:

- very light and high ceilings

- firm mattresses

- plenty of towels

- large pool with beautiful views

- 1min walk to restaurant/bar

- quiet location (no neighbours/noise pollution)

- parking for 3+ cars

- two large fridges and outdoor kitchen

Highly recommended.

What a view!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 4 couples thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at Las Peiras. The house, pool & view were superb & the village offered all the basic amenities needed. There are loads of places to visit in the area as well as an interesting selection of restaurants. We enjoyed a range of meals from the luxury end at Gayda to the homely at the local A'kotee. From the moment we arrived & were welcomed by Dawn we realised we were on to a winner. In short a well run, well equipped holiday home with outstanding views.

Superb Family Villa

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a great holiday with my wife, 3 children under the age of 16 and my wife's parents, who are both in their 80's. The villa boasted amazing views over the Aude countryside and had all the facilities you could wish for. Would not hesitate to recommend this villa and of course the pool!

Amazing views - great property

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Las Peiras. The property was fantastic and it was very hard to leave. The level of comfort was exceptional and it has set a high bench mark for other property we will look at for other holidays. It is definitely a property we will go back to as a massive highlight were the amazing views of the Pyrenees from almost everywhere in the property. We loved the surrounding area and how pretty it is, the wine (particularly at Domain Gayda which is a must go to place for the food as well as the wine), the people, the mountains and when we knew we were going back from every excursion to an extremely comfortable property it made it special. Being able to sleep with the doors to the terrace open at night and wake up to the amazing view is something we miss a lot! Highly recommended property!

Lovely villa

  • 5 of 5

The villa was lovely and set on a hill in a quiet village looking out onto lovely countryside and the Pyrenees. The villa was clean, very nicely decorated and spacious with 3 of the rooms having lovely views of the pool and countryside. The rooms with en suites were perfect allowing our family to spread out and chill. The pool was lovely and a good size and well maintained and the gardens looked over vineyards. There were plenty of areas to sit in the garden and enjoy the views. The kitchen and utility room were well stocked with all that we required for our stay.

The village was small but friendly with fresh bread and a few basics available from A' Kotee. In the evening there was a basic menu available in A' Kotee restaurant which we tried one evening and it was lovely and plentiful. On a Friday they have a pizza van come to the restaurantis seemed very popular.

The location provided ample opportunities to walk around the lovely countryside, with fields of sunflowers and vineyards and provided a good base to explore further afield.

Particular recommendations would be Carcassonne, a lovely old walled city and Minerve which although further afield was worth the drive. Ample restaurants to choose from in both places. Mirepoix was also nice for a relaxed meal in the town square.

We would definitely recommend this villa and location to anyone wanting a relaxed holiday in a lovely location.

Although there was only 5 of us staying it would be perfect for 2 families with children or 4 couples.

The booking was stress free with the owner quick to reply to any queries. The owners also provided a good description of the area, places to visit, locations of cafes and restaurants and excellent directions from the airport. The lady who provided us with the keys was also very helpful in advising us where to visit.
