About the Owner

We live in a village close to Bath, England and have had our house in Arcay for 16 years. We love spending time in Arcay and have had great fun over the years with local artisans who have helped us make it a great family holiday home and neighbours becoming friends. It is a house for gatherings and we enjoy it most when we have housefuls of grandparents, parents, growing children, cousins and friends joining us out there.

We had a lovely time at your house, it's really one of the best we've stayed in!

Just wanted to say thank you for renting us your beautiful house last week, we had amazing weather and the pool was very welcome relief from the heat. Thank you for the replacement BBQ and bottle of local fizz provided by Bob , who is a very nice man and an invaluable source of local information. Our children loved the house and the DVD 's provided and the house really feels like a family home.

I would just like to thank you for letting us share your wonderful home. The house has everything you could possibly need and felt like a much loved home, rather than just the holiday rental we have experienced before. The weather was very kind to us, we had wonderful BBQ's under shooting stars, we all enjoyed the pool and had many games tournaments. The surrounding area is beautiful.

Bob was lovely and very helpful with local information. He enjoyed a cup of Yorkshire tea too, while hoovering the pool!

Lydie was prompt with her breakfast delivery.

Beautiful Farmhouse with Excellent Facilities

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely spacious property which is great for large families. The large amounts of living space inside are surpassed by the completely enclosed garden area with loads of space to play games as well as enjoy an excellent pool area. It is in a great location to visit local cities as well as a 3 minute drive to Loudon and large supermarkets.

The photos of the gite and gardens do not do it justice and it exceeded our expectations on arrival.

We would definitely stay again!

We love this place!

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with this place immediately. The lovely courtyard garden gave us absolute privacy and safety to let the kids run free. The house is spacious and very comfortable and we felt instantly at home. It really shows that La Touche is actually used by its owners; the kitchen is set up to actually cook (hurray!) and there are so many personal touches throughout. The pool is a great size and Bob who came to clean it mid week was very friendly and a great source of local knowledge. Best of all was the toot toot van bringing us croissants through the kitchen window each morning! We plan to be back. ( Would happily move in if we could!)

Owner's Response: Great to hear you enjoyed La Touche so much! We are very lucky to have Bob as such a helpful local encyclopaedia, as well as keeping the pool crystal clear and Lydie with her smiling delivery at the kitchen window. I am so glad you relished the privacy and tranquility of the gardens and sounds like a few good meals were rustled up too. It would be a pleasure to see you back! Lucy

Lovely quite family retreat

  • 5 of 5

This place was everything we hoped it would be and more!

It's situated in a quite location although not too far away from lovely places to visit.

The place is extremely well equipped and you'll want for nothing.

Bob the pool guy is a really nice chap and the font of all knowledge with regards to ideas for days out to local customs eye etc.

The flies drive us made so make sure you pack plenty of spray to kill em! Although you can buy some from the local supermarket.

We will definitely go back here again and Lucy was really helpful and always promptly replied to any queries we had before we went there and even whilst on holiday!

The pool was gorgeous and many happy hours spent in there and the hammock relaxing wit a glass of the local red 🍷

A good 9/10. 10/10 if it wasn't for the flies but to be fair that's beyond Lucy and Bob's control 🌞😊

Let me know when you want to book your return! Kind regards Lucy

Holiday with friends July 15

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic place to spend a week, or longer. How nice for somewhere to exceed expectations when so often places disappoint. This is a truely great venue for a family holiday, the swimming pool is perfect and the large garden is completely safe when the gates from the road are shut. Stay in or explore the locality, we hardly felt the need to leave, beyond replenishing the larder.

From the Owner

I knew the Loire Valley from holidaying there as a child and so when we thought to look to buy something in France it was the first place we headed for. The ease of getting here, the beautiful magnificent chateaux and towns with great markets and restaurants were real positives, as well as the sunshine south of the Loire river. The enclosed garden offers separate areas for either lounging by the pool, snoozing in the hammock or a game of table tennis in the games room. The spacious rooms and outside eating areas are great for entertaining and barbecuing under shady trees, bright sunshine or big starry skies. The property is not overlooked by neighbouring houses and the adjacent road is used mostly by the odd tractor so there is little to disturb the tranquility.

From the Owner

After an easy 3 1/2 drive from Caen you can close the gates and feel secluded in peace and tranquility. La Touche is close to many of the Loire valley chateau towns with Chinon & Saumur only 25-35 minute drive away. Both great for seeing beautiful chateaux, kayaking and cycling along the Loire river with boats and bikes easy to hire. The newly opened CentreParcs Domaine Le Bois aux Daims is just 20 minutes drive away and day tickets offer great value for water park fun as well as theme park entertainment at Futuroscope a 45 minutes drive south at Poitiers. The area around Arcay offers such diverse entertainment from the culture of Chateaux, to boats on the Loire and quirky art exhibitions - Chateau d'Oiron has been a favourite of all of us at all ages!
