January in Bordeaux

  • 5 of 5

Hi Jim, thank you again for a memorable weekend in your lovely villa. Light was failing as we arrived, but we knew that we chose well when we saw the blazing log fire that you had lit to welcome us. Your villa, as well as containing everything that we needed was very warm for January and was spotless throughout.

We cannot forget to mention the bed, it was so comfortable that we slept soundly every night.

Even though our trip was just for a long weekend, because of all your advice and help in booking restaurants and places to visit we feel like we were there for a week. Some of the memorable places included St.Emilion and Bourg market on Sunday morning, a true gem, so authentic!

Your knowledge of the local restaurant scene knows no bounds. The highlight has to be Gabrielle in Bordeaux for Saturday lunch, stunning. Locally we were never disappointed with your recommendations, Phileas Fogg down the road, Gavroche in Blaye to mention two particularly good restaurants.

Many thanks and we will be back again.

Molly and Peter.

Our Bordeaux Escape

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay here. The house and grounds are superb. Jim is a very welcoming host who lets you just relax and enjoy the facilities , but is there to offer his knowledge and tips for the local area as and when you require them. The house is extremely well equipped particularly the kitchen. The views from the terrace are magnificent and we have spent hours just gazing out across the vineyards. We would definitely return if visiting Bordeaux in the future.

Location

From the Owner

We had been holidaying in France for twenty years visiting most regions. In 2007 we decided to buy our own property. We chose this area for its temperate climate, not too hot in in the summer and not too cold in the winter. The house is close to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Bordeaux, Blaye and St. Emilion. The Haute Gironde area is exceptionally pretty, with rolling vine clad countryside interspersed with timeless communes and villages. We have lovely vineyard views to the front and rear of our house. It is a very relaxed area of France where wine production is the main occupation. We find the local people very friendly and easy to get along with.
