Holiday Home in Burton in Kendal, Lake District, Cumbria, England - Great Area For Walking, Bird Watching And 15 Minutes Drive To The Coast

Kirkby Lonsdale 7 miles, Kendal 12 miles. A small, traditional Cumbrian village set in beautiful countryside and ideally placed for exploring Southern Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and the peaceful Forest of Bowland. The village has a post office/general store, and a pub that serves good food. It lies 7 miles from the lovely old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, and 12 miles from Kendal, the gateway to the Lake District. The historic city of Lancaster, the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool are all within easy reach. The acclaimed RSPB wildfowl reserve of Leighton Moss is only 4 miles away, while Morecambe Bay is also famous for birdwatching. Other locations well worth a visit are the villages of Silverdale and Arnside (overlooking the beautiful Kent Estuary), Ingleton, Settle and Clapham. Levens Hall (famous topiary) and medieval Sizergh Castle with a beautiful garden are nearby. Good pubs and restaurants abound in the area.

About the Owner

Opportunity to purchase cottage came up in January 2011 living only a few doors away Brian and Karen knew the property well and had always known it as a holiday home. The property was stuck in the 1970's with pink bathroom and lots of wood cladding. Just the thing Brian loved to get his hands on. With an eye on keeping the character of this charming traditional cottage Brian set about completely renovating from top to toe but keeping the character of the cottage intact but also with modern facilities from sandblasting the oak beams to bring back the natural colour to a luxury bathroom and kitchen. Our wish was to provide a homely, comfortable feel with added luxury. Judging from guest comments we have achieved that aim. We have enjoyed meeting guests from all over the country.

This was an excellent find. The cottage was a perfect example of a sympathetic modernisation. The location was handy as a base to explore and if I have the opportunity I wouldnt hesitate to revisit.

The cottage has been lovingly and thoughtfully refurbished and the end result is a luxurious holiday let close to the Lakes. We had a wonderful week staying in the cottage and felt very welcome and well looked after. It is clean and cared for with comfy beds and a beautiful bathroom. Mrs Leyton June 2011

Easy access from motorway being only 3 miles away. Local supermarket and banks only 4 miles away. Getting about very easy by car. There is no off-street parking but ample parking on a quiet well lit lane next to cottage.
