Hello, We are Andrew and Ruth,
We moved to France from Guernsey in April 2002 with our two children Denham and Fern, then aged 2 and 9 months respectively.
We have since been running the gites and enjoying the lovely micro climate that the Vendee has to offer.
Ruth Rogers purchased this cottage in 2002
We decided to buy a property in St Juire Champgillon because we liked the rural location and the fact that we had plenty of garden, which would be ideal for the gites as it enables children lots of space to play in.
The property is easily accessible from the main roads, but far enough away to offer tranquility with an abundance of tracks and lanes suitable for walking and cycling.
We also have easy access to the beaches and local attractions like Puy du Fou (well worth the visit), but at the end of the day you can leave the hustle and bustle and just come back and chill out with a beer or a glass of wine.
2011 the Tour de France cyclists raced straight past our front door, this was another life experience for us something we had never seen before, we made a day of it with friends.
The benefits of staying with us here at La Guillemandiere are that we have spacious gites, well equipped with ample parking.
For the children (or adults alike!) we have a large enclosed swimming pool with childrens pool, large gardens with the childrens play area, boule court and playhouse, and a large trampoline with safety net surround.
You can enjoy the abundance of fruit and nut trees in the garden, help youselves.
The adjacent fields are filled with either wheat, maize or sunflowers and make for good photographs.
At dusk the odd deer can be seen as well as magnificent sunsets.

Ruth and Andrew were fantastic hosts for our stay at Le Cerisier gite. They couldn't have been more helpful, answering my many emails and questions about things to do during our stay and helping my mother in law arrange and get to a blood test in a nearby town.
The gites are fairly basic but have a rustic charm, and all you need for an enjoyable stay. A bath mat would be a useful addition for the shower if possible.
Perfect for young children, with the play equipment, swing, slide, pool and trampoline in the garden. It was lovely to sit in the garden in the evening, watching the sun set across the fields with a glass of wine…
Many thanks for a great stay.
The Deeks family.
This is the second time we have stayed in this gite. It is great value for a gite with a very large garden and pool. The gite is spacious enough for 6 people, and the kitchen has been updated very tastefully. Our children love the space outside also. It is close to a Hyper U in Chantonnay and various restaurants. It is only a 35 minute drive to Puy de Fou which is probably one of the most amazing things anyone could wish to see in their lifetime. The gite is surrounded by sunflowers and fields and is great for cycling particularly. We would highly recommend this gite to anyone who wants a good value stay in France. Andy and Ruth are very helpful and are always around to help when needed.
