Holiday Cottage in Appledore, Devon, England - Peaceful Location In Picturesque Village, Short Stroll To The Quay, free Wi-Fi

The Maltings, originally a stone barn on Odun Farm, is a rare find in Appledore. Decorated to a high standard, the cottage sits at the top of Appledore village in a quiet location which is only two or three minutes' walk to the Quay down safe, picturesque streets. Its large sunny, paved garden is bordered by lush planting and accessed via the kitchen or a side gate from the private parking area. Inside, you will find an extremely comfortable, very well equipped home from home. The rooms are bright and spacious, with estuary views from both bedrooms and the sitting room, which has a stone fireplace. The cottage is perfect for enjoying all the charms of Appledore such as crabbing, strolling along the quay or visiting its many family friendly pubs. It is also a great base for exploring North Devon, whether you are interested in coastal walks, beaches and surfing, cycling, gastronomy, gardens or golf, the list is endless. It's a great place just to unwind.

About the Owner

We have had a holiday cottage in Appledore since 2002. Our cottage in Market Street was sold to purchase the Maltings in 2011.

The Maine family, once a seafaring one, has long associations with the area dating back to at least the 17th century. One of the ships which was captained and part owned by an ancestor was built in Appledore in 1839. Her name was The Emma.

Simply the best!

  • 5 of 5

The description was very accurate, the actuality superceding the description.

Delightfully decorated, very comfortable, every need catered for with extra touches making it such a pleasant place to stay.

Very good customer service and would certainly recommend to others.

Only a 5 minute walk own to the river/estuary front.

Good pubs to eat, great fish! Can recommend The Beaver.

Lovely walking area, public transport by bus is good.

One of the best

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival very impressed with the spacious accommodation which was spotlessly clean and had its own parking, a big plus in Appledore. We spent many hours in the secluded courtyard garden which was full of mature shrubs and flowers. It is very well equipped including a log burning stove and DVD player with a huge selection of DVDs. Just 5 minutes walk to the seafront, this cottage is one of the very best we have stayed in.

Well equipped Cottage

  • 4 of 5

A lovely cosy cottage in the heart of Appledore. Within a few minutes walk you can be at the quayside, shops, cafes, pubs or beaches of this lovely village. The garden was gorgeous and a very relaxing place to spend some time. A real bonus was the private parking space. A logburner in the lounge made the evenings warm and cosy. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you need.

Wonderful house, in a good positio, with parking which is a bonus. Very quiet area yet only a few minutes walk to the quay. Really well equipped an beautifully furnished, like being at home! Great contact with the owner. Thanks for the wine on arrival! Stunning views from the bedrooms. Would definitely go and stay there again if we ever go back to Appledore! Well done to the Maine family!

Lovely Cottage - Great holiday

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was a lovely combination of old character and modern . Light & airy but also very cosy for a winter stay. Lots of additional home touches with a very well equipped kitchen & great bathroom with wonderful walk in shower. Great that there was a king size bed. The garden was a picture and very sheltered. Very good communication with the owners and a very useful book left explaining the area. Only a short walk to the quay and therefore close to a scrumptious delicatessen. This cottage would be a marvellous stay winter or summer. We had a very relaxed and chilled holiday & would go again if we get the chance.
