About Mrs Lesley Tapp

With my long term partner Tim we live in rural Bedfordshire and both have demanding jobs. I am a healthcare professional and Tim runs his own his business. Having spent my childhood holidays and with my own children in this part of France, as well as family members and friends moving here, we decided to buy this house. We love the way of life, the area which offers so much leisure activities, the setting, relaxing by the pool, alfresco dining, peaceful gardens, but close enough to walk into town to the bars and restaurants. It's a great place to get away from it all, and we always look forward to coming back here at every opportunity.

Mrs Lesley Tapp purchased this house in 2007

Amazing house and location

  • 5 of 5

We are just home from an amazing holiday at this gorgeous holiday home.

We went with another family so there were 8 of us in total. The house was plenty big enough for both families.

The house is well equipped with everything you would need.

We were welcomed by Sylvie who is the cleaner. Tim and Lelesy the owners were brilliant, so much information and always quick with responses to an enquiries.

The house is location in a gorgeous village, which is only a 10 min walk into the centre. There is a lovely market, a couple of supermarkets, banks and restaurants.

The neighbours were all very friendly and the house is located in a very quiet road.

The pool was a lovely size and kept well. The gardens were plenty big enough for a game of football of tennis.

We would def recomend to family and friends and we will definitely be visiting again

Thanks again for a lovely holiday

Fantastic family holiday house and location.

  • 5 of 5

We went with another family, a total of 5 children (ranging 9 - 13yrs) and 4 adults and there was plenty of room for all of us! Tim was very helpful prior to our visit providing local information and places to see during our stay which helping planning greatly. He really was fantastic, answering all my questions.

Upon arrival we met Sylvia, who is the cleaner, who is just so lovely and very welcoming. The house, grounds and pool are well maintained with everything a visiting family could wish for.

The pool was used everyday as was the BBQ. Shops are walking distance and it became a ritual walk for morning croissants and bread for breakfast. The locals are very friendly and we all loved the Monday morning market where we tried local wines, purchased fresh fish, veg, fruit and olives...a great experience for the children.

Not far from the house, is Aubeterre (15 mins drive) at Tims recommendation. Its is a lovely lake where you can swim, picnic and kayak. We loved it here and all the little shops, cafes and the monastery built into the side of the rocks. We had great fun and would highly recommend the visit. Bordeaux isn't far either and is well worth the visit.

If you are thinking about staying at this place I would say...book now! We had great fun and made great memories.

Beautiful house in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay here with our two teenage sons. We have been holidaying in France for many years and this is by far the best house and location we have ever stayed in. The house has a very bright modern/contemporary feel, though is also full of character. It was spotlessly clean and very spacious, well equipped with great facilities.

It is a very peaceful location, with the added convenience of being a very short walk into Chalais town.

The garden and pool were amazing, with a lovely view of the castle from the pool.

Location wise there is so much to see and do. We visited Bordeaux, which is around an hour away. The museum of world wine (La Cite du Vin Bordeaux) is really interesting and is well worth a visit. The medieval town of Auberterre sur Dronne is a very short drive, and is very pretty, with lovely restaurants and a particularly excellent artisan ice cream shop, and makes for a lovely day out. We enjoyed the canoeing so much at Parcoul that we went twice.

We would thoroughly recommend this property and hope to return next year.

Chelmsford, Essex

Well positioned & plenty of facilities for all.

  • 5 of 5

Well what can I say, I think the time away was required by all and to arrive with such a warm and helpful welcome was such a pleasant surprise. The town of Chalais is just fantastic, with the markets and local shops, not to mention the Castle at the top of the hill.

Surrounding villages buildings and churches are a architectural sightseers delight.

The kids spent almost every day in the pool and they needed coaxing out to have meals!!

Dave and Simon were most helpful advising us where to go, what to see and visit not missing the neighbours who always spoke and even offered tomatoes and cucumbers from their own gardens.

Just the ideal base with Bordeaux an hour away then with Biarritz and the Spanish border only 3 to 4 hours away.

Will definitely return to this rental again next year, possibly by train this time.

Nice House

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay, the house was clean and comfortable with all necessary facilities. Separate TV room for the kids to use was a bonus! There's plenty of space on the deck around the pool and a new BBQ. Chalais is an easy walk and has a good Monday market and local shops. Kayaking, tree top activities and river swimming all within 20 minutes.
