About the property

Cottage in Port Isaac, Cornwall, England - Exceptional Sea Watching Whether Spring, Summer Or Deep In Winter

Providence Cottage enjoys a superb clifftop location on the eastern side of the old fishing harbour of Port Isaac. There are wonderful sea views from almost every window. It sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms spread over 3 levels and with a bathroom on each floor there is plenty of room for everyone, yet still retaining a cosy feel with the kitchen, dining and lounge areas occupying the first floor. The property was completely rebuilt 10 years ago and emerged from a tiny cottage which had previously formed part of "Providence Cellar" where over 100 years ago the local fisherman would have spent their days mending nets and "yarning" to each other. There is a first floor balcony with seating and an enclosed outdoor area. The cottage is centrally heated and has a coal effect gas fire in lounge. The dining table converts to a snooker/pool table (approx 6' x 6'6") for competitive guests. A sauna and whirpool bath await those who would rather relax after a wonderful walk along the coast.

The lane to the cottage is approached from Fore Street. With The Old School Hotel on your left, drive up the road for about 50 metres, pass a row of small cottages and you come to the entrance to the Coastal Footpath. Take this entrance. It is narrow and just one car width. You will pass 3 garage doors on your right, the fourth garage belongs to Providence Cottage. You have arrived. Our garage door is a roller type door. There is also parking for one other car behind the house by the back door.

Notes on accommodation: Providence Cottage is approached by a very narrow lane alongside the coastal footpath and has the added bonus of private parking for 2 cars (1 garaged, 1 standing). It is in a peaceful location but close to all that Port Isaac has to offer with it's numerous restaurants, shops and galleries and just 5 mins from the harbour and beach. Britain's longest national trail, the South West Coastpath some 630 miles of it runs past the cottage and there are many beautiful inland footpaths for ramblers. We regret no smoking or pets. Outside: There is a balcony accessible from the first floor with a picnic bench and swing seat and also an outside paved area with garden furniture, which is enclosed and private. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble drier, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen is provided, but please bring your own towels. The cottage is thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival.

We were sad to leave!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday in Providence Cottage. The cottage had everything we needed plus a few welcome extras such as sauna and whirlpool bath which was lovely after a long walk on the cliffs! Every room had a fantastic view and everything was cosy and comfortable - we couldn't have been happier! Thank you Nigel and Marion - we have fallen in love with Port Isaac and with your cottage and we hope to come back in the future.
