WE FOUND THIS APARTMENT CHARMING ON THE OUTSIDE BUT VERY DAMP AND DISAPPOINTING ON THE INSIDE.THE BEDROOM WAS DARK AND DAMP,WE GAVE UP TRYING TO SLEEP THERE AFTER ONE NIGHT AND JUST SLEPT DOWNSTAIRS.IT WAS NOISY AND SMELLY,DID NOT ENJOY OUR STAY HERE AND THINK IT WAS OVERPRICED FOR WHAT IT IS,NOT RECOMMENDED FOR OLDER PEOPLE.

Too dark

  • 2 of 5

Too dark its like living in a cave. Previous places we have stayed we have had wonderful views from our accommodation and the one view we do have is a ramshackle house. No windows at all just overall too dark.

Yes its lively but not good at trying to sleep about 3 in the morning with people shouting and running up and down past your house.

Too many steps you don't need a gym and it would certainly be no good if you were elderly or had problems getting about.

Looks nice on the photo from front door shot we assumed it had somewhere you could sit outside. No privacy too many dogs, dirty pigeons to sit outside. The backstreets are old and dirty. Only decent escape was walking to the marina at night. Places to eat is poor don't cater for vegetarians at all.

Wouldn't stay in alicante again it was much nicer in benidorm.

Sorry this apartment house and place is horrible and wouldn't return it's dark uncosy and too noisy.

Owner's Response: I'll address this review point by point... Yes it's true that little natural light enters the house - as shown in the photographs... "no windows at all" is just not true though. It's also true that there are no amazing views from the house - we would have included them in the listing if there had been. So please don't expect a sea view... the ramshackle house opposite is quite charming in my opinion. There can be some noise in the evenings but not normally very late. There are around 20 steps to reach the apartment - they are mentioned in the listing. Again - if there had been a private terrace we would have featured it... most people sit out on the pedestrian street. some even say they prefer it as they get to interact with the locals. Yes there are some dogs in the barrio and a few pigeons but certainly not a lot... Being the old town the back streets are old... they are also regularly cleaned by the local council and the residents. In my opinion the marina area is not the sort of area that old town lovers will enjoy but each to their own... There are literally 100s of places to eat within a few minutes walk of the apartment - a lot of standard quality and some of very high quality. There are 3 vegetarian restaurants/cafes that I know of - I'm happy to advise on such matters if you ask... Alicante is not at all like Benidorm - please do your research before booking...

Santa Cruz

  • 4 of 5

Spent a week in the lovely barrio of Santa Cruz. The property and the area was great. Very close to all amenities and the lovely beach and tapas bars...the local folk made for a lively stay. We were made most welcome by Tim, who met us off the C6 aerobus and provided us with everything we needed for our stay. We shall certainly come back.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

This stylish house was in the perfect location, short bus journey from the airport, walking distance to the castle, beach and marina. Plenty of bars, restaurants and pretty promenade plus the weather was great for us.

Lively location!

  • 4 of 5

The villa is reasonably well appointed, however main bedroom a little small and quite hot despite the addition of a fan. The location is in the heart of a vibrant residential area which can be lively at any time of the day, night times especially. It is a short walk to the excellent beach, the must see castle and the bustling town centre. Tim is a good host, sorted the arrangements, supplied useful information particularly on travel and kindly met us at the bus stop. This property is ideal for a city break for two.

Excellent Location

  • 5 of 5

This very comfortable apartment on San Rafael is very well located to the city and beach as weel as restaurants & bars. It is situated in the Barrio and can be a very lively spot when the "locals" are out and about. Recommend a stay here and Tim, the owner, is a very discreet owner in that he will not be overbearing and is available should you need him.
