About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 wet rooms renovated farmhouse, starry skys at night.

This lovely old renovated French farmhouse is suitable for families or parties of adults. Sleeps 6, has 3 spacious bedrooms one en-suite. The lounge has a TV, UK digital box, DVD, WIFI, books and games, it leads on to a terrace with gorgeous views. The kitchen/dining has all mod cons and overlooks the south facing lawn, pool and safe play area. Around the plunge pool are loungers to bake in the sun, a table and chairs plus BBQ. There are shady retreats when it's too hot in the sun.

The barns are stored with toys , trampolines, games such as badminton, pool accessories and pool toys. Bicycles are available for hire.

The surrounding area has lovely views, fields of sunflowers, wheat and barley, woodlands, lakes, country lanes, cycle lanes, wild life, birds buzzards, hoopoos swallows etc , amazing starry skies and often shooting stars. The neighbouring farms have cows, ducks, goats, horses, dogs and other farm animals.

The property is well situated to get about. The village it's self has an award winning bakers and a great restaurant. 10 mins in the next village are free tennis courts, another 5min drive and you come across the medieval town of Vouvant. 20 mins from the property is the Mervant forest with lakes, rivers, beaches, water sports , forest walks, picnic areas, a zoo, resturants and again much more. The area is steeped in historic châteaux and buildings.

Approx 1 hrs drive takes you to the 200 kilometre coast of beaches, coves, busy little seaside towns, pine woodlands, dunes and sunsets. La Rochelle and La Tranche Sur Mer are popular beach locations for a day out.

There are many tourist places including the Puy du Feu Futuroscope, and O'glise.

Charming cottage, beautifully presented, well equipped, peaceful location, ideal for exploring area

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is beautifully presented and is impressively equipped to provide everything needed for a real home from home experience. Mrs Harris was lovely, very accommodating and helpful.

The location of the cottage is so peaceful and beautiful - perfect for relaxing but for those who want to explore this area of the Vendee there is so much within a half an hour drive of the cottage. The Puy Du Fou is just fantastic for all ages, the Mervent forest has so many activities including open water swimming in the Vendee, there is the peaceful magic of a boat trip in Green Venice (Mazeau offers great trips - and 'light' the water experiment that my son enjoyed), and a train ride on the Vendee Vapeur is also very enjoyable, not to mentioned beautiful villages, towns and chateaus, fantastic fresh local produce and everyone was just so friendly and welcoming. In fact a week just isn't long enough!

Would highly recommend!

Classic Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Last summer my family and I had a fantastic time in the heart of the Vendee region of France. The facilities on offer were perfect and enabled us to enjoy a complete break from all the stresses and strains of modern life. The guest house was fantastically traditional whilst having all the modern day conveniences. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in the heart of France I highly recommend you visit here.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the 5 stars and taking the time to write a review, I know you have a busy life. As you and you family are keen cyclist I think you'll want to know at the back of one of the fields we are building a skills trail with different degrees of challenges.Hopefully you will all come here again. Meantime thanks again and all the very best to you and your family. Margarita :-)

Fabulous holiday

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I chose this location for our annual reunion and we were delighted with our choice. The farmhouse is beautiful and the location enabled us to chill out as the area is so tranquil. The accommodation was spic and span and had absolutely everything we needed and we loved the beautiful French furniture. The owner was very helpful in telling us about historic places to visit and also about visiting the French antique markets which we loved. We are actually planning to return this year and I would recommend the property to families or groups like ours (over fifties).
