Fantastic base for an amazing holiday!
We had a week in Barfleur in mid June 2015. Overall the house more than met our needs and would not hesitate to go back. Not perfect, but nowhere is - so any negatives mentioned are to give the full picture, but are very minor. Communication - the owners are very responsive with their communications and answer promptly and fully. Handover of keys / deposits was done efficiently and friendly. Location - Within a 5 minute walk, you are on stood on the edge of the beautiful harbour of Barfleur. The bakery is 5 minutes the other way for your daily bread and quite a few other shops / restaurants are in between. Recommend Le Phare for a pizza treat (no washing up on the last night! :o) ). Walk a bit further - 15 min - and you get to the beach - really quiet and lots of golden sand. The supermarket is less than 5 min in the car. The only bugbear on location is the parking - it's not directly beside the house, as it is down a small side street, so expect a couple of minutes walk when loading/unloading. Never had an issue getting a space, but having a UK car was trick to park close to the wall and still get out, so TIP - park beside the doors in the wall. Other very minor issue was the distribution centre in the garden - generally not much noise from it, but one night it felt like they had a few overnight deliveries. Oh and if you poke your head out of the upstairs window, then can class it as having a sea view! Outside - lovely enclosed garden - plenty of space for my 2 year old to run around - he loved doing laps round the house. Lots of garden furniture for larger groups. Saw one review describing it as a football pitch - not sure what they expected - difficult to manicure a garden in a holiday house, so a nicely maintained lawn is what you can expect, not over looked and generally quiet. Downstairs - Very large open plan kitchen / diner / lounge - loads of space for relaxing / cooking / eating / (drinking). Very comfortable. Free to air UK channels are available on the telly for those missing home. The kitchen is well equipped. Also 2 bedrooms downstairs - one with a games cupboard for the kiddies too - we didn't use these rooms, but looked clean and comfortable. Upstairs - once you climb the stairs, you are in the main master room with the bathroom and 2 bedrooms coming off it. The 3 bedrooms were again very comfortable. One was a kid's room with 2 single beds and lots of toys and books which kept my son more than happy.Overall-FAB!

Spectacular relaxing location
What a lovely place to stay! The house is tucked away with no traffic outside. Little narrow streets leading to the beautiful fishing port where you can buy fish from the fishermen's wives and watch the tide coming in and out. The house is clean and spacious, there is a fish shed behind but we didn't find this a problem at all. The odd lorry goes in and out but disappears down a road the other side of the building. How nice to have FRESH fish on your doorstep! We loved the large garden, lots of space to play badminton and for the kids to rush around in. There is parking down the street, but it was easier to leave the car on the Quay which is surrounded by shops and wonderful unspoilt restaurants full of French people enjoying the food and sunshine. We will certainly go back whenever we can.

2/10 Terrible

"horses for courses"
Its a given that we all have different standards. This is not the house for perhaps a fussy mature couple (we are) As another reviewer also commented, at the back of the house is a factory with lorries arriving and departing. The "garden" resembles a football pitch, perfect if you have a family of boys. Parking in the very narrow street is a big problem in a right hand drive car as you have to park very close to a wall which makes it impossible for the driver to get out of the car. That said , its a well equipped spacious house for a big family and Barfleur is lovely.

Spacious and central.
Just had two weeks here, property was spacious with a fully enclosed garden for kids and dog. Just have to walk round the corner and you're at the harbour, lovely restaurants etc (our kids loved asking for bread in the boulangerie!). Parking can be a pain, sometimes had to leave the car on the town's main street but wasn't worried as it's a very peaceful area! Main complaint is that upon our arrival we discovered that directly behind is a warehouse (presumably fish), which would load/dispatch lorries at any time of day or night (understandably unmentioned in the property description). And take plenty of plug adaptors, as a number of items have English plugs.
