About the Owner
I live at Week Parks with my husband and our two dogs, Fred and Clarence, along with our cats Ernie, Norman,Mavis and Rodney. I'm a trained chef and am passionate about food, always cooking with fresh ingredients. I love gardening and we grow as much of our own produce as possible. Before we moved to Devon, my career included running a successful London catering business, a cafe in Hampstead and I was also head chef at Berry Bros & Rudd in St James St.
I am happy to provide meals for our guests during your stay - please contact me to discuss your requirements in more detail.
Guestbook comments from the owner
What an absolutely fabulous place; a real unexpected gem! We can't fault Nigel & Tracy on the accommodation or their hospitality. We had difficulty finding a cottage that would take a large dog so we were nervous when we arrived; we hadn't expected anything as wonderful as this. We loved the welcome basket of goodies, in particular the homemade lemon drizzle cake, wow! The cottage is so beautifully presented and well equipped I didn't need to bring anything. And what a dog-friendly welcome! We have thoroughly enjoyed a fun-packed stay here. The Walsh family, June 2011.
Tracy and Nigel were very helpful and attentive hosts. We were extremely comfortable in the cottage and had everything we needed. The little extras provided were most welcome and thoughtful. It was an excellent base to explore the local area and offered peace and tranquillity when needed. We would thoroughly recommend it to our friends and will certainly return for another visit. Activity and Interests
In North Devon, you’ll find some of the finest beaches in the UK. Close by are Westward Ho! and Northam Burrows nature reserve, where you can explore the dunes in the company of ponies, goats and sheep! When the tide is out, you can walk along the beach to Saunton Sands, with its imposing art deco hotel, gorse-clad cliffs and cheerful beach huts. A bit further are the famous surfing beach at Croyde Bay and the pretty coastal resort of Woolacombe; whose beach has been voted one of Britain’s best.
45 minutes from J27 of the M5, we are situated one mile south of High Bickington village just off the B3217, which runs between High Bickington and Dolton.
High Bickington, one mile away, with two pubs both serving home-cooked food. RHS Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal, 20 minutes away in the bustling town of Great Torrington. Barnstaple and South Molton, both market towns, are each around 10 miles away. Exeter is easily accessible either by road or rail, on the delightful Tarka Line. Dartmoor and Exmoor are both visible from Week Parks and make for great days out. Bude, Hartland, Clovelly, Appledore and Westward Ho! are lovely coastal diversions.
There are many local pubs serving home cooked food. A great selection of restaurants, pubs and shops can be found in Barnstaple, Bideford and South Molton, as well as banks, supermarkets, vets and other local amenities. For children, the Big Sheep and Diggerland are wonderful days out. There are numerous potteries and other local crafts and arts venues to explore, including Beaford Arts Centre, England's longest established rural arts organisation, which stages regular exhibitions and musical events.
