Low Jock Scar cottages are set in an idyllic riverside setting, surrounded by 6 acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands. There are 2 one bedroom cottages and a three bedroom cottage. We are situated north of Kendal near the A6, in the Lake District National Park, 5 miles from the market town of Kendal. Easy access from the M6. Plenty of secluded parking. No pets please. Lovely gardens to be enjoyed. The owners live on site and are happy to assist you with ideas to help you enjoy your stay with us in the Lake district.
Roslyn and John bought Low Jock Scar in 2007.
We have continued to improve the property and cottages for over 8 years. 2015 achieving the gold award for Butterfly cottage from visit England. The cottages have improved from comfortable 4 star to high 4 star with most aspects considered 5 star.
The property has a special energy which has been enjoyed by many people over the years.
The river, bridges and loved garden create a special place to relax, replenish and recharge. Sitting by the river, enjoying the sunshine and a glass of wine has been a much enjoyed pleasure.
Our Guest comment books are filled with lovely comments, and hundreds of "looking forward to returning" comments. Many of our bookings are from returning clients and recommendations.

The fall in love factor, felt by many about this special place.
Low Jock Scar has a very special atmosphere of it's own, feeling well away from the usual hustle and bustle of everyday life, but within 8 minutes easy drive of the useful pleasant town of Kendal.
Arrived friday and met by the wonderful owners, made too feel really welcome, the cottage was excellent and so peaceful, definatly recomend to anyone
If you are thinking of booking this cottage, don't hesitate. We loved this wee cottage and only wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage feels secluded and in its own wee world. The surroundings are immaculate and well kept. I'll definitely be booking again and would recommend it to family and friends.
My wife and I stayed at Tulip Cottage for a 5 day break and found it to be the perfect retreat. The cottage is incredibly comfortable and is equipped with everything one would need, including a roaring log fire and plentiful books on attractions in the local area. It is set in the most wonderfully well kept gardens and is handily located close to many of the Lake District's most popular towns and lakes. We would definitely recommend Tulip Cottage to others who are looking to recharge their batteries in the peace and tranquility that Cambria offers.
The cottage was very well equipped, cosy and comfortable and little details such as maps and guide books available to borrow and fresh flowers on the table when we arrived and replaced during the week were appreciated. The owner greeted us on arrival and explained the heating etc and couldn't have been more welcoming. We definitely intend to go back there.
There was a friendly greeting by the owner on arrival. It is a gem of a cottage and as described; clean, comfortable and quiet. The cottage is ideally placed for exploring the eastern Cumbrian Fells, it is one of the best hiking/photographic holidays I have had for a long time. It is also a great place if you are interested in astro-photography, there is no light pollution and you can get some great images of the Milky Way, and Deep Sky Objects.
I would recommend the cottage to others and I will return again.
Felt like a home rather than a place to stay. Everything coordinated. All you could need in the cottage including a wood burner with all the wood you would want. Surrounded by superb gardens. Rosalyn was a fantastic host ... then when you needed her but not intrusive.
