About Daryl Graham

The property has a special energy which has been enjoyed by many people over the years.

The river, bridges and garden create a special place to relax, replenish and recharge. Sitting by the river, enjoying the sunshine and a glass of wine has been a much enjoyed pleasure.

Why Daryl Graham chose Kendal

Low Jock Scar Country Estate must be one of the area’s best kept secrets. Head just a few miles North of the historic market town of Kendal where the unspoilt Fawcett Forest dips into the Bannisdale Valley and there sits Low Jock Scar. Tucked alongside the banks of Bannisdale Beck where the sound of the babbling Beck creates an athmosphere like no other and captures perfectly the unique charm of this idyllic location. Bannisdlae Bridges – high and low, both listed, – mark the boundary, with the high bridge sitting on the route of Wainwrights Horseshoe walk.

This delightful cluster of properties sits in several acres of mature gardens and woodland where guests are welcome to meander through the colourful grounds and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the location. With the changing seasons the woodland creates an ever-changing environment to be enjoyed. The bluebells create a carpet of blue in late Spring while the glorious colours of Autumn leaves are hard to beat. Guests will be delighted to spot that the grounds are often frequented by a wide variety of birds and wildlife including woodpecker, deer and hares.

Located in the ‘Gateway to The Lakes’ Low Jock Scar provides an ideal base for guests who are looking to explore. Whilst it may be difficult to drag yourselves away from this perfect spot, both The Lakes and Dales are easily accessible. Head East to Sedbergh, Dent and Hawes or West to Windermere and Bowness. Equally within easy reach for a day out are the Northern Lakes with Ullswater and Haweswater less than an hour’s drive.

For guests looking to stay local, walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found. Just a few miles away, the town of Kendal offers something for everyone. A popular historic market town, Kendal provides a castle, historic buildings and its famous ‘yards’, a riverside setting, shops for all and a great selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants to be enjoyed.

What makes this cottage unique

Low Jock Scar has a very special atmosphere of it's own, feeling well away from the usual hustle and bustle of everyday life, but within 8 minutes easy drive of the useful pleasant town of Kendal.

Great Location, Great Reception, Great Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

My partner an I had a short weekend break (Friday - Monday) in Tulip Cottage and it was just perfect. The little log fire made the house nice and cosy when on and the central heating was great when not using the fire. The surroundings of the cottage were beautiful, you would be forgiven for thinking you were in a small paradise. The hosts were lovely, accommodating and so friendly, I would definitely come back.

We enjoyed our stay at Butterfly Cottage, very good, modern facilities, brilliant log fire which we lit every day. Situated near to a river, Lovely rural setting but also short driving distance to Kendal

Mountains literally just next door, good walks nearby I.e. Selside Pike, will attempt next visit!,

A lovely stay.

20/04/2017 Tulip cottage

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage [ one of three ] in beautiful gardens with babbling brook.

Nicely furnished, and all mod-cons , while retaining an "old world charm".

Well located affording short journeys for all the Lake District has to offer.

Would like to visit again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for posting the review. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. Tulip cottage is the most traditional of our cottages, cosy and charming, much enjoyed. Butterfly and Lily are more modern in appearance, all are comfortable

Beautiful site, immaculately clean cottage and friendly owners on hand to deal with any queries.

  • 5 of 5

I'd definitely recommend this holiday let. The cottages are in the middle of a beautiful site with a stream running along the bottom of a well kept garden. We saw a woodpecker amongst many other types of birds visiting the bird table. The cottages are well kept with decent furniture and fittings. It's a real home from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
