Apartment in Cala Galdana - Tranquil Setting, 5 Minutes Walk to the Beach

This is a charming terrace-house set in beautiful gardens in the scenic area of Cala Galdana, known for its lovely beaches on the south coast of Menorca. The house is part of a small terrace of six homes, and offers a sea view from the back terrace. The house sleeps 4 in total (one double bed, and two singles). Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a full bathroom. The kitchen is totally equipped and has an American-style kitchen/dining room. The living room has a fireplace, and doors leading onto a terrace offering sea views and access to a beautiful garden. This is a great holiday apartment, that is situated in a residential zone, whilst at the same time offering easy access to the nearby beaches and lively tourist areas of Cala Galdana.

Comfortable & quiet with sunny balcony and a view

Everything very good, property was nicely placed in a quiet location, well maintained, well equiped and clean. Although we arrived later than expected, Nil was waiting to greet us, give us local information and his personal contact details, should we need them.

The balcony was sunny from 10,00am till 6.00pm, which was nice for the times we did not want to go sightseeing and relax instead.

Because the property is a steep climb from the centre and my wife is not too mobile, we found a car essential - also for visiting the island's less accesible beauty spots, which was our main activity.

The centre of Cala Galdana had a good choice of restaurants and a lovely sandy beach with safe bathing.

Overall, we enjoyed a very pleasant stay of 9 nights and would recommend without hesitation.

Quiet, clean and comfortable

This is the second time we have stayed at this very pleasant 2 bed apartment in Cala Galdana. Nil, who is very friendly and helpful, was waiting for us at the apartment and briefly reminded us where things were placed. He pointed out the smart new windows that had been installed since our previous visit. A beautiful wild flower arrangement had been created by his mother that made the apartment feel homely.

I would not hesitate to return to this apartment if we were ever in Cala Galdana again. It is spotlessly clean, nice and bright with good views from the balconies (two). The beds are extremely comfortable and the kitchen equipped with all the essentials. We had a problem on arrival with the kettle (the first thing we wanted to do, being English, was to make a cup of tea!) Unfortunately, the kettle packed up on us, but within a very short time of contacting Nil, he and his lovely mother came out with a brand new kettle and saved the day.

The apartment is in a quiet, residential location and there are great walks from the front door to other sandy coves. Nowhere is too far to travel on the island. This time we visited Es Grau, the beautiful nature reserve and also drove to the top of Monte Toro for marvellous views over the whole of the island. It’s best to pick a sunny day for this trip.

Three years ago we visited the north of the island, Binimel-la, Cala Pregonda and Fornells. The scenery here is fantastic with masses of wild flowers and great for walking. Ciutadella and Cala Santandria are also good for a day out.

I can highly recommend this apartment for the independent traveller. We are a couple of 70 year olds and the steps down to the road were not a problem.

Perfect Little House

An absolutely lovely house. From the initial booking and right through our holiday, it was all perfect. Nil was so helpful and even left us some groceries which we were very pleased to receive after our journey. Spectacular views from both balconies. The house was lovely and clean with everything we needed. Although we did not do much cooking. The hill was a bit of a climb but after a few days we soon got used to it and helped us burn off some calories from all the lovely food and drink we savoured in Cala Galdana, which again, is a lovely place with a stunning beach. Would highly recommend and thank you again Nil for a wonderful holiday and all your help from start to end.

Fabulous family holiday!

Nil was an attentive host even before arrival, ensuring all my questions were answered within a day. We were met at the house by Nil who showed us around and explained how to get to the beach etc. The house was exactly as advertised and perfect for me and my family (including 2 children age 6 and 8). The house was spotless and had everything we needed to make the holiday an absolute joy. The beach was a 5-10 min walk but was down steep stairs, we were all fine but anyone less able could always take the road way which is a little longer. We spent everyday at the beach and then at Toboggan which had water slides for the kids, which they loved! I will certainly be booking another holiday with Nil!

Perfect place

Host Nil was great, very welcoming and gave us lots of useful tips on places to go/eat. He was very thorough with the information about the apartment and even came to wish us goodbye the night before we departed.

The location of this apartment in Cala Galdana will not only suit those who don't want to budge much from the beach and resort itself, but if like us you like to explore, then it is so easy and quick to access lots of other beaches, and towns, like ES Mercadal, and a night trio to Ciutadella for the lovely night markets.

Would definitely recommend this place.

Further Details:

Cala Galdana is a village that is part of the municipalities of Ferreries and Ciutadella. Cala Galdana beach is considered the jewel of Ferreries because its one of the most beatiful horse shoe bays on the island and also because of its crystal clear waters. Moreover, Cala Galdana has received several awards due to the quality of its services. The Red Cross has a medical center plus lifesavers on duty during the summer months.

On the beach there are three beach bars (called Chiringuitos in Spanish) where you can cool down with a refreshing drink or bring a picnic and enjoy the view from the under the pine trees. For children, there is a water-slide and mini-golf nearby, while lovers of water sports can hire kayaks, motor boats and pedaloes on the beach. At the Sports and Nature next to the Audax Hotel they also have bikes for hire.

Ferreries is a small village with also shops, restaurants and bars. It has a weekly food market every Saturday morning and also a night market every Friday selling local crafts and art. If you come between 23th - 25th of August, you will be able to witness the Ferreries’s fiestas, in which horses play a major part and has been held for more seven hundred years.

Ciutadella is a larger town, with many historic attractions and well worth visiting. It's a short drive a way or there is a bus service from outside the Cala Galdana Hotel.
