John and Myself are both in our 50's and have been married for 35 years with 3 children. We have 2 grown up daughters who live in the UK, and our son Zachary who lives with us here at the Manor.
We have been French residents since July 2008 and love our life here, where family is everything, politeness is a way of life, and kindness and gentleness are seen in everyone you meet. John has dedicated 10 years to faithfully restore and renovate the 800 year old Manor and Gite to a high standard, and I have been able to full fill a life long ambition to be creative with interior design.
We love meeting new guests, and take a real pleasure from the knowledge that they are enjoying their stay with us.
Many of our guests have said that they appreciate having John and myself close by.
John & Laura Henderson purchased this cottage in 2003
In 2003 we fell in love with le Manoir de Rimbard because of its history and could see its potential. Although in a semi derelict state we were lucky that many of the classic French Manoir features were still standing. For example: the chapel, the bead oven, dove cote, stables and gatehouse. These are arranged around a central courtyard.
During the renovation process, we were delighted to discover two intact and original fireplaces. The 500-year-old oak and ash spiral staircase (now fully restored) is one of many outstanding features of the Manor.
We offer you a warm welcome to our home, and hope you will enjoy this tranquil location as much as we do.
we look forward to meeting you here.

Our stay at the Gite de Rimbard was one lovliest and most relaxing holidays we have ever had and I cannot recommend John and Laura and their lovely gite and chambre d'hote highly enough. We stayed in the gite, but John and Laura were also kind enough to show us a couple of the spectacular rooms in the chambre d'hote. The gite was spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well equipped. It is an old barn (or similar) converted into a beautiful home, set in the lovely grounds of the ancient Manoir (the chambre d'hote) with a covered terrace overlooking the swimming pool. The pool, ah the pool! Perfectly heated so as to be refreshing but not too cold, and immaculately maintained by John and Laura. We and our children spent many happy hours in that pool. And last, but by no means least, there are John and Laura themselves - the most welcoming and helpful of hosts imaginable. Upon arrival we were ushered into their kitchen for a welcome drink, chat and sort of friendly and useful orientation, before being shown our accommodation. And John and Laura were available all week for advice, help or just a quick chat (I think we were particularly lucky that the rooms were not busy the week we were there, so they were around doing little jobs here and there a lot of the time and we were able to pass the time of day!) We did have a minor medical 'situation' while we were staying at the gite and John and Laura and their son Zack were tremendously helpful and we couldn't have resolved our situation half as easily or quickly without their assistance. There is plenty to do in the area if you are prepared to do a little driving, and the particular highlight of our stay was going to Puy du Fou, which was actually about a 90 minute drive away, but worth every mile. Utterly amazing, take a look at their website and go if you can! (You normally have to book months in advance for the summer performances. There are headsets you can hire with an English commentary for all the big shows.) Overall, fabulous, 11/10 for Gite de Rimbard and Laura and John Henderson.
