John and Myself are both in our 50's and have been married for 35 years with 3 children. We have 2 grown up daughters who live in the UK, and our son Zachary who lives with us here at the Manor.
We have been French residents since July 2008 and love our life here, where family is everything, politeness is a way of life, and kindness and gentleness are seen in everyone you meet. John has dedicated 10 years to faithfully restore and renovate the 800 year old Manor and Gite to a high standard, and I have been able to full fill a life long ambition to be creative with interior design.
We love meeting new guests, and take a real pleasure from the knowledge that they are enjoying their stay with us.
Many of our guests have said that they appreciate having John and myself close by.
John & Laura Henderson purchased this chateau / country house in 2003
In 2003 we fell in love with le Manoir de Rimbard because of its history and could see its potential. Although in a semi derelict state we were lucky that many of the classic French Manoir features were still standing. For example: the chapel, the bead oven, dove cote, stables and gatehouse. These are arranged around a central courtyard.
During the renovation process, we were delighted to discover two intact and original fireplaces. The 500-year-old oak and ash spiral staircase (now fully restored) is one of many outstanding features of the Manor.
We offer you a warm welcome to our home, and hope you will enjoy this tranquil location as much as we do.
we look forward to meeting you here.
John and Laura

We cannot fault our stay - the Gite was very comfortable and really well equipped, a home from home!. We will certainly recommend Rimbard to friends and family at home and look forward to returning to enjoy more of your lovely new pool. Tracey, Andy and Ethan.

Our stay at the Chamber d"Hote at Le Manor de Rimbard was perfect.
Our host John and Laura were so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble , your every need was met and we had a most wonderful time. Thank you both so much and may you have continued success with this venture.
My first sight of Rimbard was breathtaking. We were driving along a country lane watching the ducks in the village pond and there, at the end of the road was Rimbard, an old manor house which had obviously been lovingly restored by its owners John & Laura. As we drove into the courtyard, John & Laura came out to greet us, and after the introductions John took our cases and showed us to our ground floor room while Laura offered to make us a welcome cup of tea. Over tea we chatted about the renovations they had done and their plans for the future of the property. Laura gave us the names of several local restaurants where we might like to have our evening meal. Our room was large and airy with beautiful views across the extensive grounds. It was furnished in traditional English style and Laura, who is a talented needlewoman had put the finishing touches to the décor with her hand- made scatter cushions and drapes. The TV received both English and French channels which was a bonus for us, and the en-suite bathroom was both spacious and luxurious with lovely large soft towels. Her attention to detail is such that she knows how to make a room welcoming and provides nice little touches such as bottled water in the room. Our breakfast was ample with plenty of choice and variety. John's croissants are delicious as is Laura's home-made jam .John gave us a key to the separate guest entrance to the property so that we could come and go as we wished and as the room is equipped with a fridge, a sink, a kettle, a coffee machine etc John told us we could make tea or coffee at any time. On one occasion when we didn't want to go out, Laura provided me with a sun lounger so that I could relax in the garden. It was not warm enough to swim in May, but the open air swimming pool is beautifully maintained and looked most inviting! There is a games room with a snooker table and also a table-tennis room for evenings and rainy days, but we are golfers and took every opportunity to use the local 27 hole golf course and sample the excellent restaurant there. John & Laura were always on hand to advise about local markets, shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. In fact nothing is too much trouble for them. I have also stayed in the twin room on the top floor which is equally delightful but not for those who find stairs difficult. The location, facilities, comfort and above all the warm hospitality of John & Laura make a stay at Rimbard Manor an experience you will want to repeat.
