House in Crinan by Lochgilphead, Argyll Scotland, UK - Peaceful Location, 2 Minutes Walk To Crinan Harbour.

Yealand House is set into a hillside with breathtaking panoramic views out to the Sound of Jura, Gulf of Corryvreckan, Scarba and Mull. This beautifully designed split level detached family house, built in the 1980’s, is close to Crinan Basin where the Crinan Canal joins the sea.

Welcoming and comfortable, this much loved family home has a mix of antique and country-style modern furnishings creating a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The highlight is the spacious living room with it's double height ceiling, minstrels' gallery and stunning views to Jura and Scarba. Guests can relax in the comfortable three piece suite in front of a wood burning stove with access to doors that lead out onto a wonderful deck balcony where summertime drinks can be enjoyed while watching glorious sunsets and the gentle movement of the boats. For rainy days there is also a large television, DVD, radio, record player, library of books and games.

There are three bedrooms two are double bedrooms and one bedroom with twin beds. The main bedroom is an upper self-contained annex bedroom with en suit toilet and shower with views to the front and back of the house and its own living room. The second double bedroom has a viewing point out to the Islands and has an en suit toilet and basin. There is also a separate bathroom with toilet.

The kitchen is well equipped with a cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, dining table and chairs. There is also an added utility room with washing machine and clothes dryer. The front porch can also be used as a breakfast room and guests can make the most of the morning sunshine.

For recreation guests can make use of the table tennis table and darts board in the double garage of the house.

Yealand House is situated above Crinan Basin and you can visit the Crinan Hotel for freshly caught seafood or lunch in the bar. There is also a coffee shop with fresh homemade cakes and a gallery of local artists work. Watch the yachts sail in out of the Atlantic, stroll along the shoreline or canal paths or take the path to Crinan wood (a remnant of Scotlands' own rainforest) and enjoy the panoramic views to the Isle of Jura, Mull, the river Add and Duntrune castle.

Why Richard Liley chose Scotland

This is a family home that we had built in the 1980's. My mother's family originated from Largs on the Firth of Clyde and were great sailors. Many of them have ended up in Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. We love Crinan for the peace, the walks and the wildlife and regard it as a very special place.

What makes this house unique

The spacious rooms with stunning views. good parking facilities. Watching red squirrels, rare birds and deer that come into the garden.

Activities such as painting, swimming, sailing, walking, bird watching, cycling, picnicking. Direct access to the harbor through the garden.

" A Lovely house in a lovely place. We could have happily spent the week inside reading books and playing table tennis, but there is so much beautiful scenery outside. We had one or two spectacular sunsets, but the view is stunning at anytime of the day.

A lovely peaceful beautiful setting.

We had a lovely time. The views were superb. We met up with the housekeeper Irene who welcomed us and showed us round the house. She was lovely. We had a very peaceful weekend reading and enjoying the scenery.

Great home in an amazing location!

This is a beautiful home in an amazing location, with spectacular views and every comfort you could want. It is off the beaten track, but once you get used to the narrow and winding roads you'll find that it is just a 10 to 15 minute ride to a larger village with grocery stores, etc. It's a great place from which to explore the Kintyre peninsula and the islands, or to just hand out and relax.

Fantastic break in a breath taking location.

Yealand house was perfect. It's location couldn't have been better and the views were just breathtaking. The house had everything you could possibly need, our only problem was we wished we were staying for a week instead of a weekend. The children loved the path down to the harbour through the trees and we spent a lovely afternoon at the Crinan canal going for a walk and watching the boats. We are looking forward to returning for a longer break.

Great weekend away!

We had a lovely time in Crinan. The house was great, and the views out to the Islands were spectacular! Great location for a weekend away, and the host was communicative and very helpful. Pictures are accurate and the house had everything we needed for a fun weekend. Definitely would stay here again!

Fantastic location

This is a warm family home with lovely views of Crinan Harbour and across to Jura, as well as of its surrounding gardens (rowans heavy with fruit while we were there). Its secluded location ensures peace and quiet. Walls covered in paintings, sketches and drawings (some of them David's) make this a home: it feels as though the family has just stepped out to go for a walk. What we particularly appreciated was the first class heating system which has been thoughtfully programmed, coming on just as it is getting colder, and again first thing in the morning to make getting out of bed inviting; we didn't have to struggle with the complexities of the system. The kitchen is very well equipped making cooking easy. Great washing machine and dryer set up and hairdryers in two of the three bathrooms! An infinity water heater in the en suite ensures continuous hot water: bliss! This is a wonderful location from which to explore parts of the West Coast of Scotland which is not only spectacular but the source of some of the best seafood in the world (Tarbert and The Kilberry Inn particularly recommended for outstanding food). Definitely recommended as a touring base.

A non-refundable 20% deposit is payable on booking. The balance is payable four weeks prior to the commencement of the letting period and includes a £200 against contents damage. For bookings made four weeks or less prior to commencement of the letting, the full rent with any additional charges must be paid at the time of booking. The house sleeps six persons with extra sleeping facilities for a maximum of nine. A charge of £50 is payable per extra guest.

Changeover Day:
Flexible changeover date (Sat-Sat preferred). Short breaks are available but not in peak season (Sat -Thurs).

Notes on prices:
All the Prices include heating (except for logs for the wood burning stove) and electricity.
