Villa in Alcaidesa, Sotogrande area, Costa del Sol - Peaceful Location, 10 Minutes Walk To Beach, Large Mediterranean Garden And Vast Terracotta Terraces

Dos Olivos is a luxury, tastefully decorated home in Andalucian style in the urbanization of Alcaidesa. It is 10 minutes walk to the beach but high enough to command breathtaking panoramic views. Vast terracotta terraces lead onto a scented Mediterranean garden with an 11m floodlit infinity pool which can be heated. The pool has Roman Steps (steps with hand rails into the pool), and there are sunbeds, a pool-house and a large covered eating area with barbecue as well as a floodlit tennis court. The house is entered through a double-height galleried hallway and leads onto a large drawing room with terrace which becomes a conservatory in winter, dining room, and modern kitchen with table for 10. There are 2 large master bedroom suites and 3 further suites, all double or twin and one wheelchair friendly. All have terraces and sea view. There are terracotta floors and beautiful local ceramic tiles throughout. Sky TV, DVD, wireless internet and Hifi. Egyptian cotton sheets, fluffy white towels and bathrobes are provided.

It has given me great pleasure to build Dos Olivos from scratch and its stunning position has inspired me to create not only a beautiful house and garden which take full advantage of the spectacular views, but to fill it with beautiful things, while at the same time making it practical and easy to run. I believe you will enjoy this special place as much as my family and friends do.

Notes on accommodation: All 5 bedrooms are exceptionally spacious with only one a little smaller than the others. All are decorated in cool cream and highlighted with Mediterranean colours which are echoed in the hand painted bathroom tiles. Master bedroom 1 is a mixture of turquoise and sea blue and by a flick of the electric shutters, you can enjoy a glorious view of the Rock of Gibraltar without moving from your bed. No doubt you will also enjoy the large walk in wardrobe, luxurious bathroom and vast terrace. Master bedroom 2 is equally beautiful and this time accented with cornflower blue and once again enjoys sea views through the large arched windows. This one probably has the prettiest bathroom and, like the others, offers spacious hand-carved wooden wardrobes, original paintings, and antique chests of drawers. Each bedroom is different - you will find it hard to choose between them! And all are air-conditioned. Outside: Private 11 meter infinity salt pool with waterfall which can be heated at extra cost if desired. Extensive terracotta tiled terrace with fountain. Plenty of sunbeds and large covered area comprising barbecue kitchen and dining for 12. Further table with parasol for 6. Pool house with 2 shower rooms. Large garden comprising flat lawn area and different grassed areas and paths. Great variety of palms, fruit trees and flowering plants as well as scented herbs. Tennis court with floodlights. Amazing view of 3 nations - Spain, Gibraltar & Morocco! Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board & irons, sink, line. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Luxury Egyptian cotton linen, fluffy white towels, pool towels & bathrobes supplied and changed once a week. Beach towels not provided. Daily maid service (not Sundays). Cook available at extra cost. Other: Spiral staircase leads to comfortable panoramic tower room sanctuary. Basement games area with pool table and table tennis.

A vacation hub with a fantastic view!

We traveled with a group of 8 and had a fantastic time. The heated salt-water pool made a great end of every day of our trip. It was inspirational to see the Rock of Gibraltar any time we were at the villa, whether from the many rooms facing it or from the pool and patio. We had a short lived tennis tournament on the private tennis court. It wasn't pretty, but we had a blast! Our host Judy was very accommodating and helpful with all transactions. The housekeeper Yolanda was a delight.

I would say that Dos Olivos gets 16 thumbs up! A good time was had by all.

Stunning view from a beautiful villa

Dos Olivos is a beautifully decorated and well maintained villa. It is even more spacious than the description and photos suggest. Booking was easy, directions clear, and the housekeeper, who comes in daily, is a treasure.

The outdoor areas are wonderful and the pool is accessible, even for the elderly. There is a ledge all the way around the pool which means you can stand, even in the deep end, and enjoy looking at the Rock of Gibraltar, with a drink in hand. There is also a very easy to use gas BBQ which meant we stayed in more often in the evening than usual. When we did venture out, there are good restaurants within easy reach. We enjoyed La Terrasse, in Puerto Sotogrande, very much.

The master bedroom is huge with a large terrace from which to have breakfast or watch the sun go down. The Rock lights up after dark and presents a stunning backdrop for a nightcap seated in the conservatory. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the villa feels like home when you are there. We had a fantastic time and I would recommend this villa to anyone looking to get away from it all in a peaceful location.

Coast/Beach:

Alcaidesa has an extensive wide beach which reaches all the way to La Linea and Gibraltar. It is about a 10 minute walk from the house but can also be reached by car. In summer there are 'chiringuito' beach restaurants also open for barbecues at night. Within 40 minutes you can also drive to Tarifa beach, famed for windsurfing.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Gibraltar served by Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton and only a 15 minute drive from Alcaidesa. Malaga is one and a half hours away - motorway all the way. A car is essential for Dos Olivos and can be hired from either. The best way to drive from the UK would be to take the ferry to Bilbao and then drive South across Spain.

Distances:

Alcaidesa nestles on the coastline at the more peaceful end of the Costa del Sol but within easy reach of all it has to offer. Sotogrande and its luxury port are a 10-15 minute drive from Alcaidesa and offer restaurants, shops, market, watersports, polo, riding & golf. Marbella/Puerto Banus is 40 minutes away and Tarifa with ferry to Tangier, 40 minutes in the other direction. Sevilla is a 2 hour drive and many picturesque 'white villages' within 30-60 minutes drive inland. Gibraltar is a 15 minute drive.

Alcaidesa has a golf clubhouse, bars, beach bars, Italian restaurant with pizza, convenience store, pharmacy and a shopping centre currently under construction. In summer there are well-established ‘chiringuitos’ – beach restaurants with sunbeds – with informal lunches and dinners barbecued on an open spit. There is a choice of 3 major supermarkets within a ten minute drive and a smaller one 5 minutes away in San Roque Club. The splendid view from Dos Olivos of The Rock of Gibraltar will almost certainly draw you into discovering its fascinating history, panoramic views of Africa and duty-free shopping. You can either drive in yourself or take one of the all-inclusive taxi tours available from the border. A few minutes drive inland reveals stunning countryside and it is only 25 minutes to Casares the nearest of the picturesque ‘white villages’ which Andalucia is famous for. There are good roads to Andalucian treasures Sevilla, Jerez and Ronda, about two hours away. The famous Costa del Sol stretches from Alcaidesa all the way to Malaga and includes the world-renowned resorts of Sotogrande, Estepona, Puerto Banus and Marbella. Sotogrande Port is just a 15 minute drive where you can hire a boat, learn to sail or enjoy one of the many international restaurants and bars as well as the summer evening and Sunday morning market. In the opposite direction, a 40 minute drive along the stunning rocky coastline, just 8 miles across from Morocco, will bring you to the picturesque town of Tarifa with miles of white sand and windsurfing paradise. Temptingly close and often clearly visible from Dos Olivos are the shores of North Africa. Morocco is only 8 miles across the Straits of Gibraltar and you can reach Tangier by ferry. And you can also avail yourself of the riding stables in nearby San Roque or Sotogrande, famous for its Polo. The small town of Pueblo Nuevo ten minutes down the road has banks, newspapers, restaurants and even an English butcher and Waitrose.
