Picture Postcard, 17th Century, Grade II Listed Cottage

Overview

Property

Updated: 18-Oct-2016
Cottage in Kingsand, Cornwall, England - In The Heart Of The Village.

In the heart of Kingsand, 80 yards from the beach, a picture postcard, 17th century, Grade II listed cottage. It is now fully renovated, but retains much of it's character. The south facing front door leads into a living room with a flagstone floor and ancient beams through to a thoroughly modern kitchen. Stairs rise from the living room up to two bedrooms: a pretty double and one with two singles, bathroom. No smoking. Pets; no thanks.

pretty cottage, good location, recommended

  • 5 of 5

Right in the heart of the village with excellent access to a decent village shop, beaches, 4 pubs and 3 cafes. The Devonport I think is the best pub for food (Stargazy pie) while the Old Bakery and the Boathouse are good too. 90 minutes walk to the Cremyll ferry (and thence to the River Cottage canteen). Good walking and running. Cottage itself was warm, cosy and comfortable for a couple, with a well-equipped kitchen.

Loved Mayflower Cottage........would highly recommend it : -)

  • 5 of 5

We are a couple in our early 60's and spent a very enjoyable week in Mayflower Cottage last week. The Cottage itself is very picturesque.....probably the prettiest in the village, and was photographed by many passing tourists during our stay there. The house itself has everything that is needed in a holiday home, and is in a perfect location for the few pubs and shops in the village. It is also a 5 minute walk away from Cawsand the neighboring village.

The cottage is also excellent value for money. The only downside is that there is no phone or internet signal in the house, however a phone signal can be picked up at the seafront which is a minute walk away, so it was not a problem for us.

Taking the ferry to Plymouth is a must....it departs about every 90 minutes from a little jetty in Cawsend, and the return bus trip on the 70a bus, which takes the scenic route via Whitsand Bay ( time, about 1.20mins, but whose in a hurry!!!) is also very special, and well worth doing.

The owners of the house have left a lot of very helpful information about the area, which we really appreciated. We would definitely recommend Mayflower Cottage to friends and family who want to enjoy a taste of the real Cornwall.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your comments. Am looking into wi-fi currently; it is available in the nearby pubs, and via a village system - but I guess we need to join the 21st century! Some mobile signals are receivable in the cottage....but it IS Cornwall. They ALL work on the nearby beach!

Lovely Cottage in excellent location

  • 5 of 5

We've been stopping at Mayflower cottage for the last 7 years!! Each time we know what we're getting: Lovely cottage, well maintained and in a superb location 50 yards from the King Sand beach and about 75 yards to 2 pubs and the village store. The cottage has all the facilities you'd need for a holiday in this sort of location. King Sand offers a good beach for kids, both sea activities and rock pools next to it. Nice walks from the doorstep, particularly overlooking the bay towards Plymouth / Mount Edgecombe. Would highly recommend.
